An exploration trip to Gran Sabana, Venezuela. Part 1

If you could just post stuff like this a couple times a month, that'd be great. Thanks.

Looks like an amazing trip, and the vehicles are truly drool-worthy. It makes me smile watching such refined (and expensive!) pieces of equipment going over rickety old bridges and the people in control having a great time. Usted vive la vida buena.

Seriously, it's been a while since I've been floored by a post. Thanks for sharing the photos and welcome to the Portal!

Wow, thanks for your words. I agree in that we should all do this kind of stuff more often, and then post here. We will certainly try.

Thanks again

It looks like the LC 200's really performed well. Are they diesels or gas engines. And on your LC, did you lift it, and if so by how much? And one more question, what tires are you running and are you happy with them.

Thanks for the trip report, fantastic!

Hi, regarding your questions:

The LC200s you see here have the 2UZ-FE engine. As for mine, it has an OME lift (2 in. front, 0.75 in. rear).

The tires are BF Goodrich MT KM, size 285/70R17. They are quite nice off road, but ride comfort, noise levels and handling on-road have all suffered. However, I already knew all that when I decided to install them, so you could say I'm quite happy with them. I already have a set of KM2s of the same size ready to replace them.

Wow!!! Great trip and photos.

The last picture; is that near Kavoc??? A few years back I drove to Canaima then took a plane to Kavoc and swam in the river and waterfall. Saw Angel Falls as well, what a beautiful area.

Its great to know of someone who has travelled around these areas. Actually, this was quite south from Kavak, but as you can tell from the photos, it is still quite similar.

BTW, there are many more phots in my blog, at:

Thanks for the reply. Your 200 looks great. Let me know if you ever want to head up this way and do some exploring in the Four Corners.
