Kirk, I didn't see where you answered this, can you tell us where you picked up the side blinkers from?

Actually they were on it when I got it. I would guess you could search for Pajero marker lights, because I think they're from the non-US version.

More goodies installed today. External CB speaker (nice and loud) and a PA horn for no good reason.

Finally got to working on the rock sliders for the Montero today. I picked up a random unfinished pair on Craigslist over a year ago for just $80. They were too long so I shortened them and rotated one end around to protect the rear part where the rockers angle out. They fit awesome now. Tomorrow I'll get on the mounts.

They were 10" too long. I had already started cutting the first 5" sections out in this photo.

I stopped by the local steel store today and picked up tubing for the mounts and tubing for the sleeves. They just happened to have these 4" square plates cut and drilled in their scrap selection.

5" sections cut out for half of the 10" total.

6" sections cut that slide in snug.

Drilling the holes to plug weld the sleeves in place.

I marked the center of each sleeve so I'd know how far to slide them in.

I slid the other pard of the slider on to keep everything aligned.

They cleaned up pretty well. Good enough, since I'll be spraying them with bedliner.

Oh, and I also picked up a pair of bouncy seats last week.

OK, I figured out a system for completing the sliders and got one side done!

Getting the height right. I had a floor jack under the front to get the slider and the rockers parallel.

One of the benefits of overbuying hardware on nearly every project is that from time to time I have what I need on hand. I had everything I needed except four bolts.

Only one mounting plate needed modifying. Two, if you count the one I need to do on the other side.

No tubing notcher, but the drill press and a hole saw work just fine.

Tacking the mounts together. The wind was blowing enough to keep blowing away my shielding gas. Frustrating.

It unbolted and lifted out perfectly. No binding at all.

Welding out of the wind is much better. I just need to clean off the spatter and trim down the gusset and it's time for paint and installation.
