Nice Buy,

I almost bought that about a month back. Wife wouldn't let me do it though until my stuff sold first. From looking at it and talking to the owner I think you have a very solid rig to start off with. I never got measurements but it looked like a longer box. Good for more room maybe not so much for departure angle. Also I like that box as it appeared to have quality construction and I like all of the side boxes and slide out drawers that many ambulances don't have. Good buy too...that thing was a steal at that price.

Now ditch the quigly suspension and get it up in the air.

FWIW, all of our FD's ambulances are Lifeline rigs. The box construction and overall strength is incredible. They are good units and I would venture to say on par with Road Rescue.

Since you have some experience with them can you tell me what the box on the top of the doghouse is? I am thinking some type of controller for all the lights, bells and whistles but I have yet to see it in person. Just curious :) .

Man I busting a valve or 2 waiting for this to get here (actually a pickup date would even be nice)

Look what was in my street when I got home today!

Finally the wait is over. Took forever to find a transport willing to bring it across the country for the price I was willing to pay.

Things to note:
Alcoa rims not "simulators"
Passed emissions first try.
More switches than a 747
Will not fit in my buddies paint booth.
World of Warcraft floor mats came with it.
Missus is happy with the seat belts compared to the 94 or 96

Nice!!! I remember when the M1010 showed up at my door and I was like, what the heck did I get myself into??? It was bigger than the pictures made it look. LOL

Should be a cool build and can't wait to see what you do with it.

I will be watching this one very closly. I can't wait for the next deployment to get here and over with to follow in your footsteps.

Please keep us well informed. Really excited to see where this goes. I'm assuming you are taking direction from the Ute thread way back when?

Since the Sportsmobile sold I have to get this campable ASAP

So all the trim removes and its off to Maaco for a paint job. (Sorry for the crappy iPhone into the sun pic)

Looks like initially I will throw together a couch/bed and put the ARB in one of the side cabinets. Install a console/seat in the middle at the front for the grand daughter.

It had a major power problem. When it got hot it would lose all boost. Suspected a lot of things but it turned out to be mainly the up-pipe to the turbo. A $2.47 gasket and a lot of swearing later I now have up to 12 lbs boost. Still not spooling up quick enough so it looks like I will throw a re conditioned turbo on it as soon as I can.

Another issue was the initial oil change (baseline). Took 2 of us over an hour to get the filter off. Ended up having a ratchet:Wow1: strap wrapped around it to provide some turning force and then driving a 2 foot long air chisel bit through the case to get it to turn. Needed over 3/4 of a turn before it released enough for normal tools to move it. (much more swearing)

Before and after strip down.

Yep hopefully this weekend

Looks like you'll be needing that Westy set soon.

We are hoping to bring it up to Flag for its maiden voyage. :smiley_drive::wings:

But as of this afternoon it looked like this. Maybe we will be picking it up tomorrow.

Back from paint.

It looks different. The missus didn't want us flagged down to deliver a baby or something so paint was high on the priority list ("If momma's happy we're all happy :) ")

So after chasing down some body shops who didn't really want anything to do with me and even looking at getting it wrapped (they claimed the wrap would only last a couple of years) we went with Maaco in Glendale. Under $2K for a full color change with 1 level under the premium paint, 4 year warranty.

I am happy with the job they did. It is not show car quality but very good value for money. For a rig that will get dirty/scratched/ beaten about it is fine.

Anyway the bit you really wanted. The pics (missus, iphone late in the day)
