Hotel Oberland in La Paz is filling up quickly as the dry season is progressing. Notice we are the only non white vehicle.

What is the correlation with the dry season? Do people venture out more or less during this time?

The uniqueness of your Cruiser exists on many levels

I got myself a plank on the bonnet. So that we are not cracking the new paint when climbing on the roof all the time.

Very smart. One more of the little lessons that result in nice details.

So these are the old 14 volt glow plugs. Two of them have exploded and the remaining two are burnt severely. That is why she started so very poorly the last few times. Raw power starting in the cold! When we did a compression test and the motor was on the floor, we did the most stupid thing we could do: we glowed her with 24 volt direct. Now I know where all those coils and transistors are good for.

Oooops! I bet they glowed quite brightly, and very briefly . . . :Wow1:

Outstanding work, congratulations!

I last visited this thread sometime around page 20...the progress since then is quite impressive.

Hope to follow in your (and others) footsteps one day when I retire, or at least can afford several months off work!

Our aluminium plate fits exactly in the u-profile we glued in the sides.

So our side table hangs sturdy with only two cords.

We're testdriving again for a longer period. Lots of dust and cacti.

We visit some 'Che Guevara" museums and monuments in the neighborhood. When I come acros this photo of 'el Che' being smuggled into Bolivia in a FJ40.
