Anybody know anything about Continental tires?

Continental's Ultra high performance DWS tire continually rates right behind Michelin in most every comparison test for that type of tire. Ahead of Bridgestone, Pirelli, BFG, Goodyear, Firestone and all the others.

Does that quality and performance cross over to their trail tires? I do not know or have any experience with their trail/off-road type of Continental tires. I have purchased and used the Continental DWS tires on several vehicles and was very happy with the performance and price point of the tires.

I just put terraincontact ATs on my Suzuki Grand Vitara about 2 months/6000miles ago - so far very impressed on both wet and dry tarmac and dirt roads in the Andes. Very quiet for the type of tyre - you can hear a bit of drumming when on overbanding or damaged surface, but not intrusive. Haven't done any serious off roading with them yet, but so far they give me confidence that they are more capable than my driving will be

I have MPT81's on my Unimog. They are awesome and unlike the Michelins for my truck are not Unobtainium.

I do not know anything about their offroad tires but their street tires are terrible. Had a set on my Porsche, they were the worse set of tires I ever owned. I got rid of them. They were so bad they were to the point of being dangerous. You would take the car into a sharp turn and the car would just keep going straight! Terrible traction! Put a pair of Yokohama A509s on and the performance drastically improved. It was like being glued to the road.

I can’t report on their Offroad tires either, but I’ve had two sets on my minivan. Factory were junk and replaced at 30k. Second set, different style continental, had horrible tire creep, lasted 22k. I’ll never go back.

My wife's car has Continental Extreme Winter Contact tires on it right now. I'm very satisfied overall, though braking in deep snow is a little worse than expected, due in part to the car's overexcited ABS.

My new Sierra came from the factory with Continental CrossContact LX20. They are very quiet, reasonably smooth, and on road traction has been good for me so far. Many reviews complain of short treadlife on full size vehicles, though owners of crossovers seem happy.

I have not used, or done much reading on the Continental Terrain Contact, though the few scattered comments I've read suggest good traction on wet and dry roads.
