wifi calls
For what it's worth, just a heads up that with the Line2 app from Toktumi, you can make phone calls to and receive calls from any number right over your wifi on the ipad. Can use the mic and speakerphone, a wired headset with mic or a bluetooth headseat.
I installed it last week and it worked perfectly - on a 30 day trial right now. Cool stuff, but not sure I'll continue after the trial just yet. Have a real iphone for calls, but nice to know you can do it.
And if you fly Airtran, Delta or anyone else with GoGo wifi, it WILL work inflight as well as a cell phone does on the ground. I'm sure the airlines and the flight attendants will freak out though if they see you making a call even though it's not using cellular...
As an aside, I used my iPad's spotty wifi signal at home (worked great elsewhere on wifi) as an excuse to replace my 10 year old Microsoft wireless router with a new D-Link Dir-655 B/G/N Extreme Gigabit Router. Signal is much stronger, wider, and faster throughout my house and my iPad issues went away at home. Didn't even have to rename the B/G/N networks separately as some suggest for the iPad issue...
