Windows, tablet, pen/stylus support plus with the pro the stylus is included, touch interface, various other software support, FULL MS PROGRAM support included....ETC. There are lots of benefits of using Microsoft based devices compared to using apple. There is nothing in the apple ecosystem that is better and more user friendly than whats available through MS.

For the amount of swearing I do on MS weekly for how dumb their OS is you'll forgive me if I don't hop on your bandwagon. Give me UNIX any day over the retrograde file system, process, user access control and memory management in Windows.

That said, I'm looking forward to playing with Windows 10. I'm curious if they finally cleaned up the GUI enough that it doesn't look like a 1990's undergrad project.

I'm impressed with it being a touch convertible at this price point. I'd buy one, wonder how well Linux supports the peripherals.

I am the opposite, I have never had an issue with any edition of windows, even vista. ME was a **** show but hell that was still eaiser to use and more user friendly than OSX. OSX is a cluttlered mess actually. I have no idea how anyone can use it and honestly say its easier to use than windows. I go back to the easy task of closing a program. In windows, you hit a red x at the top corner of the screen, in osx, that's a red minimize button next to the minimize buttion that is yellow next to the resize/minimize button that is green. Makes NO sense. You have to either figure out the keyboard short cuts etc to close a program. I ditch every apple device I owned after 6 months of Trying to be with the in crowd and getting the "just works" slogan. Nope. Went back to windows and everything MS and its more user friendly by a large margin.

Kojack my friend, I'm not sure I agree with you. Spec for Spec, the prices between the "High End" MacBook Pro 13" and the Surface 4 Pro are identical. They do differ a bit for comparable low end models, but not a lot. It is true that the Surface 4 comes in an el cheapo model that Apple doesn't offer competing specs for. See screen shots taken today from Apple's configurator site, and Microsoft's configurator page:

Didn't mean to derail the discussion - my comment ($1900) was regarding the Surface Book spec'd with the discrete graphics card.

Performance wise, the reviews I've read regarding the Surface 3 Pro vs a 13" Macbook Pro have said that under heavy CPU intensive processing (rendering 1:1 previews in Lightroom, for example) the lower power processor in the Surface Pro 3 was significantly slower (probably also due to throttling due to heat management). No concrete details out yet about exactly whihc processor is in the Surface 4 Pro, so we'll see.

Again, a little slower because of the cpu, is marginal, and you get the added benefits of having multiple devices in one instead of a dated laptop.

And don't forget continuum, where your phone becomes your pc. Any app on your phone, will scale and work correctly on any monitor using the continuum dock. Another major advantage for Microsoft over the competitors. Hell apple cannot get one app to work between their ipad and iPhone. You have to buy two separate ones at times, or the one scales crappy on the bigger ipad screen.

My wife and I purchased a couple of Surface Pro 3 i7's a few months ago. They have been great for what they are. I set up our desk with dual 24" monitors, keyboard, mouse, and a Surface docking station. I daisy chained the monitors to the docking station. Now, we can drop our surface into the dock and enjoy a full blown desktop experience or get up and walk away with all of our work still running on the Surface. Definitely has helped us with the occasional teleworking and online school.

With all this said, the fans kick on when watching Youtube videos at 1080p or 720p(60fps). Not bad, but could be annoying in certain circumstances. I have done minor gaming on my surface (tested out H1Z1). The only way I could play more than 10 minutes before the CPU throttled down (due to heat), was to point a small desk fan at the surface to blow cool air across the top of it.

For what they are, the Surface Pro 3's have been great.

They are NOT gaming systems at all. But that's not what they were desgined for. They were designed for exactly what you are using them for. a complete system. With w10 now, you can actually mirror an xbox one to them and play, that is a nifty trick. We have surface 3's with no fan, so they always stay silent.
