automatic or stick shift ?

Really? I have still never seen one and never meet anyone who has driven one. My Dad, and Uncle have both been driving big rigs for about as long as I can remember.

It started in fire trucks and triaxles/6/10-wheelers, and is continuing on. The technology is proven, and...quite frankly it makes it more difficult for the driver to damage things. It's obviously not everywhere yet because of the service life of your average OTR truck, but just give it time.

From a fleet standpoint it makes since. Not everyone knows how to drive a stick. Just the Military put an auto in it doesn't mean it was the best choice. I mean come on they switched sidearms from one of the unarguably best designs ever created to a easy to shoot POS that is the beretta. The only few Deuces I ever drove were manual. The LMTV's and box trucks were all autos though.

A lot of trucks in europe are "auto" ( ie HGV 7.5 ton and up even semis at 44ton ) but they are mostly automated manual boxes.
LT230 transfer boxes are quite easy to regear , but its mostly the range that gets swapped one favourit is putting disco auto version into 90 to give more relaxed motorway cruising .

Just let me know when to expect the Defender for the transplant

lol i promise as soon as i get the d130 if it has stick shift i will take it out and send it to you, but make sure to film for us going up the hill with one front tire and one rear tire in the air and no lockers, that wil be awesome to see loll

i may even put 6.5 turbo AM GENERAL OPTIMASER motor ( used on Hummers after 2002 with 4l80e automatic ) it all depends on the mechanical condition of the 130
