interesting thread.. i have been camping all my life,, i carry a bow saw , and an axe, i try to cook all meals on the fire , and for years would not be bothered to carry a stove at all , so many good points in this thread , here in canada, yup no cutting of wood in the provincial parks , you have to buy it and they dont let you bring any cuz of the bugs, but i dont camp in provincial parks anyway, i do however spend ALOT of time on crown lands, i collect only deadfall , i have recently started carrying a 14'' chainsaw, i dont use it much but its nice to have, the loggers have been working hard in the area i camp and i have collected up some of thier scraps, the chainsaw works nice on that stuff, and i aint as young as i used to be,, i hate to admit it but lately have been cheating a bit and will bring a small box of dry cedar kindling ,(took me 2 seasons to burn up mothers old picnic table ) just in case we cant find any dry stuff to get the fire going,
and we always always always leave our camp cleaner than we found it,
