Cleaned the bottom side of the truck after going thru some brackish waters.

Ended up applying fluid film black. Definitely looks better on the frame bits.

Then ended up adding new 10.9 hardware on the rear shocks and installed skid plates.

Tomorrow is pulling the tank skid and cleaning it off and applying some steel it.

If I have time I'll pull the side steps too. Clean them and apply some bed liner from a can.

Finally got time to pull the skid plates. It has been rain at least 4 hours a day, every day for the past 2 weeks. I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not.

Finally pulled the skid plate, and it was worse than I had feared.

Sprayed her down and to reveal the damage.

And some of y'all said I was crazy when I said I would have preferred aluminum skids.

Cleaned the dirt off and ground out the loose paint before applying rust converter and letting it sit (while it rained).

I applied primer and will be sanding it tonight because it HAS to get back on tomorrow since I'm going on a trip.

Good deal. And yes. No matter how heavy the truck. I agree with the aluminum skid, even if you need a thicker one, and bolt on HDPE, nylon some other replaceable plastic on the skid bottom.

Yep the hassle of this full refresh on the skid plate has cemented my view that even if aluminum is weaker the corrosion resistance is worth it for me.
