Wait until @Todd n Natalie and I release our OVERLAND FISHING ROD STORAGE BOX and then you can make that investment.

But seriously, no need for a roof rack or a bed rack solely for the rods, like @YetiX said you can just angle them out the back window.

I'm gonna go to Home Depot or something and pick up some PVC and order some mounts for the rack and see if I can jig something up.

I don't have a rear slider on my 2012 F150, wish i did. I have a cap (topper) on the bed (5.5 bed) as well, right now for fishing i just put the rods in the bed but for vacations after coolers and bags fill up the bed there isn't room for rods in there angled across the whole bed like they need to be.

PVC is an option for sure just need a roof rack to put the tube up there.

Or maybe just get dedicated 2-3 piece rods for salt fishing

This just got shipped in from Australia (just kidding). Brackets will be in tmrw. Should be good enough to go to a marine deep cell battery in the bed topped up for use with a broverland style fridge.

If had an 8ft bed or invested in some rods that could break down i'd go that route. don't have any rods that will fit in the 5.5 bed that way, maybe on a complete diagonal but even then the roof of the cap is significantly smaller than the bed itself because how the cap tapers

Can't say too much right now but I'm working with a fab shop to get bed stiffeners that work with my bed rack. Cad drawings are made, I have pictures of and it and when I get permission I'll share them.
