Really like the black, but would probably buy the Coyote Tan.
All it needs is a nicely sized subdued American Flag stitched on the bottom. :)

Hey that's an idea... most tactical vests have a section of velcro over the breast pocket(s) for attaching velcro-backed patches, and most military uniforms these days have velcro there and on the sleeves up near the shoulders. There are lots of such patches available, including full color and camo american flags, "POLICE", "SWAT", and lots of other serious and comical ones. A section of velcro for patches could be sewn to the face of the spare cover if people thought it would used. Here's a google search for velcro patches: https://www.google.com/search?q=tac...hUKEwj6u_Glm-3QAhXF7iYKHXHOCngQ_AUICCgB&dpr=1

Based on their sewing of the black samples, the company was able to tell me what the manufacturing cost would be, and based on that it looks like the Tactical Spare Covers would have to retail for about $99 if sewn in the USA (the black samples were sewn in Indiana). Sewing them overseas would reduce the cost; most of the plain spare covers on the market are sewn in either China or Mexico, but I'd rather see these sewn in the US if it results in a price that would work.

Do you know what the tire size limit would be?
I'd have no problem paying $99... Actually make that $198 since I'd be buying two (one for the Jeep and one for the Scout). But I'm running a 35x12.5x17 tire on both rigs. :)
Just have to figure out what to do with the back up camera that sits inside the rim of the Jeep...

I was just emailing with the company today about sizes. I suggested that they might want to offer them in sizes up to 37"; I told him I don't think I've ever seen a "big tire" Jeep with a cover on the spare. Maybe the functionality of the Tactical Spare Cover would entice some of these Jeep owners to use a cover.

The company is trying to figure out which sizes and colors they might offer. At least until they get a few out in the market and figure out if it's going to be a worthwhile product it probably doesn't make sense them to manufacture 4-5 sizes in 4 colors. It's a tough call, if they were to pick 2 sizes and 2 colors to start out and test the market, what would the best answer be?

My thought would be 32 and 35. Those are probably the two most popular sizes.

I did get the Coyote webbing today, but not the bungee cord, so I couldn't finish sewing the Coyote cover. Hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime, here's a work-in-progress shot.

The bungee cord arrived in today's mail so I was able to finish sewing the Coyote prototype Tactical Spare Cover. I've only got one Molle pouch in Coyote so that's all I attached for the photos.

So now there are prototypes in ACU Camo, Black and Coyote. I'll have to see if I have enough O.D. Green fabric on hand to do one of those, they're kind of fun to sew.

Black and Coyote would be my recommendations. Both can be classed up with the appropriate accents.

ACU is limiting yourself IMO despite availability of pouches etc.

X2 on the Velcro patches. There are tons of options out there for patches, would be cool to see these covers out there with guys running patches from the unit they served in. And plenty of patch for civillians too. Also gives a little more customization, I run a soft top and don't want to put stickers all over the plastic, you can't take them off like you can off glass. I think this is awesome, black and coyote will probably be the most popular, but there's definitely a market for ACU, NWU, ect. And a hundred bucks is a fantastic price, you can barely buy vynil collegiate covers for that. Very cool.

While at the SEMA Show last month I posted about the new manufacturer of containers I found there, at the show the manufacturer gave me some containers for testing so when I got home I tried them on the Jeep. I posted this shortly after I got back from SEMA:

This morning I tried the new containers on the JK side mount...

Left to right in this photo - one 5 liter, two 10 liters, a 10 and a 5, and a front view showing the depth on one container.

No drilling was required, the container stud bolts right up to the JK side mount.

When I tried them out I was favorably impressed, so I put a Jeep accessories company in touch with the manufacturer. The company liked them enough to add them to their catalog, so they'll be available soon from that company. They sent me these photos today of part of their first shipment ready to leave the manufacturer.

I've got enough O.D. green fabric, so this morning I started sewing a Tactical Spare Cover in green. Didn't have green webbing so had to order that, also ordered some 2" green Velcro to do the patch idea - I think I'll put one piece of Velcro on the face above the zipper pocket and a piece on each side above the Molle webbing for patches.

Hard to tell online, but that looks more like Ranger Green than OD Green. RG, btw, is preferred nowadays in the tactical community.
