Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

@Jeff just kidding.. Most of us can only dream of a work shop like yours. very clean etc.. the best I can do is drive a few miles to my uncles house and watch him build stuff on his lathe and other equipment the company gave him when he retired.

It's never my intention of making anyone look bad - quite the opposite! I post lots of detail showing how to do things hoping that people will be inspired to take on their own projects and hopefully by seeing how I do things people can be successful. I also promptly respond to design questions people have in the hopes that I can help them with their projects - in the last week or so I posted design drawings for a rear rack that someone wanted to build and was wondering how to accomplish it.

My workshop is in my home basement. It's probably better than an average DIY-er's workshop, but it's definitely not over the top, especially compared to all the workshops that are featured in the woodworking magazines. I do my fiberglass and painting in my home garage (too smelly to do in the workshop). The only tools I have that aren't typically found in a home basement workshop is a metal-cutting bandsaw, and I have a welder in my garage. Other than that, just normal home DIY tools - table saw, etc.

well good work sir, you've put out some professional looking work from your average garage

This photo was sent to me last night - of one of the first production slider window kits being installed in a JKU hardtop.

Nice @Jeff seems to be fitting snuggly.. is this something anyone could install themselves?. I've had to deal with a broken window on the Ranger and the rubber seal was a pain to mount..

The kit is designed for a driveway-DIY installation. Sealing is done with stick-on weatherstrip and a little sealant, and everything is held in place with a standard RV-style window clamp ring. No difficult seals to wrestle with. The person who's doing the install in the photo I posted earlier today is someone I'd describe as having roughly average DIY skills (hopefully he won't take offense to me saying that!). He didn't comment much about the installation in the email he sent me except to say "the install really wasn't too difficult." :).

Can't wait to drive my JKU up Rt 17 after I contract an install with you Jeff :smiley_drive::sombrero:

Only two problems with that idea:

1. It's called I-86 now, it got promoted to an interstate :).

2. I'm sorry but I don't do work for hire, this is only a hobby for me and I don't even have time to get all of my own projects done so I definitely don't have time to do projects for other people.

Dang, looks like I'll have to break out the tools :coffeedrink:

I molded the first pair of flat fenders today. I molded them in black inside and out so if I decide to paint them to match the body I won't have to paint the inside - I'd just leave the inside black.

Tomorrow the fenders come out of the molds.

This photo compares the tint of the factory glass and the slider. The rear half of the window (the sliding part) looks a little darker because there's a screen behind it.
