I finished the rear flat fender mold masters. Yesterday I finished the bodywork, part of which involved lengthening them 1" at the bottom because it's always best to have the mold be larger than where the part gets trimmed to ensure a good edge. When I last showed photos of the mold masters on the Jeep, the bottoms of each leg of the fenders were very slightly above the bumper and the rock rails - now these wouldn't fit anymore because the legs are too long. The final fenders out of the molds will be trimmed to fit just above the bumpers and rock rails (or side steps), but coming out of the mold they'll be about an inch too long before trimming. This morning I shot them with epoxy; they're now ready to make the molds, which I'll do later this week.

Scherb, The point is the tread title is misleading.. (Barn Door for JK factory hardtops) because I was expecting to see something relevant to the barn doors. yet all I'm seeing is flat fenders.. Why not create a new thread based on the fenders thus I can avoid it and not get any updates I do not care to see.. You're all over the board.. as with your hobby. You tend to not focus on one project till it's completion then leave those of us who might be interested in one particular topic hanging..

Tip: wear an approved p-100 with organic vapour filters. It'll help keep you from being distracted from the wide range of his mods.

I finished the folding table for the JK fridge slide today. Anyone up for a picnic?

Here it is without the traditional Gingham tablecloth :)

Stowed. The table folds up between the fridge battery and the fridge.

To show how it works, here's a deployment video:

The leg that supports the outboard side of the table is a "monopod" intended for cameras, they're cheap, light and adjustable. It attaches to the bottom of the table with thumbscrews - I made it removable to minimize the thickness of the stored table.

And how it stows:

I've still got a few features to add, stay tuned...

When I saw the picture with the table cloth, I envisioned two plates of pasta, a bottle of red wine, and a candle. Now that's the way to "rough it". :)

The Alu-Cab Shadow Awning with mosquito netting would be the perfect addition to that table.

Thats pretty dang slick Scherb.

Thanks!

It looks great Jeff. I cannot wait to see it in person. Awesome Job!!!

Thanks Donny. My goal was to provide enough table space so you don't have to carry that extra table anymore and have it take up no more space than the fridge alone does. You can let me know if you think I've succeeded when you see it in a few weeks. BTW if you've still got the hardtop on I'll bring a Freedom Panel with a pop-up skylight we can try out too.

Definitely bring the freedom panel. I will not be removing the hard top at all with the Gobi rack on so you are set. I am interested in seeing the table space. Just watched the video on work computer so I could see it better. Man it looked nice! Again Great Job!!!

I made the molds for the rear flat fenders yesterday. What they looked like after curing overnight:

The mold surfaces are perfect, these molds will make very nice fenders. I'll probably make the first set of fenders in these molds tomorrow.

The next feature being be added to the fridge slide/table system - a panel that attaches to the fridge tray so it slides out with the fridge and has slots for attaching Molle gear and bolt holes for either a Rubican or a Rotopax container to keep water close to the food prep area.

Today I made up the panel. As soon as I paint it I'll post photos of it with Molle pouches and a Rubican water container mounted.

The work in progress:

I like that.

What about a single slide with a Molle panel up against the driver side. I wouldnt mount a water pack to it but Molle pouches and a couple of rifles or shotguns, SAR equipment, or first aide gear. Could a single slide work with a drop down table?

Or would that be to much weight for one slider?

So what you're saying is something like the panel I posted a picture of, but only mounted on one slide instead of being on the side of a tray that's running on two slides, right? Weight wouldn't be a problem, slides are available up to 500 lbs. per pair, so I think 250 lbs. capacity for a single slide is quite a bit more than the weight of the gear you listed. What' I'd worry about is the side to side stability of a single slide - there's some amount of play in a slide, and I suspect a vertical load on it might sway from side to side when the vehicle was in motion. Might be that a pair of slides mounted fairly close together would be a better way to go than a single slide, although it would be worth testing a number of different slides to see if one could be found that had very little play in it. No reason why a fold-down table couldn't work on a single slide, what I've built would easily bolt up to a single slide and work fine.

Yes a panel like you posted. The side to side stability is what I was wondering about, using 2 slides close together could help solve that.

For me a slide out vertical molle could be handy, I already have a tailgate table in my JK, I was thinking a drivers side table could be useful for someone who already has something bolted to the tailgate like your storegate.

Ive got a JK so if I got a fridge it would go on the rack outside the gate and not on a slide inside like on your JKU.
