Awesome... How is the kitchen going to work with the larger wheel wells?
This is my first trailer build, so now that I'm to the point of building the tongue I have a question to those with trailer experience: How far out should I place the coupler??
Anyway, first thing I noticed was how far the tongue stuck out, so I inquired about it. He said it was so the body of the trailer would clear the body of the tow rig in case he ever got into a situation where the trailer had to be jacked near 90 degrees..... Makes sense to me.
So if you want the same clearance, measure from the ball to the outside corner of the tow rig and that should be about minimum length.
HTH...
There is also a rule of thumb that says make the wheelbase of the vehicle and the wheelbase of the trailer be the same or close. Wheelbase of the trailer was defined as hitch pivot point to trailer axle center. The idea is that it will track closer to the vehicle's track.
