Thanks! I definitely need to work on shooting the world around me, instead of trying to get out to the world beyond my local environs.

You know I mention something of this nature in almost all of my introductions about myself. I like to encourage peole to get out and see the world around them instead of just hanging out in their comfort zone. It still amazies me that most people do not know what the world is like even 15 miles from where they live. My wifes cousin stopped by yesterday and while we were talking she mentioned that she does not get "up here" that often. we litterally live less than 7 miles from her. Many of my inlaws look at driving a mear 20 miles is a huge inconvenience. I find it hilarious because I am used to areas that require me to drive at least 20 to just get to town lol.

Agreed- going downstairs for a snack now.

I agree with John, and for some reason I'm now really hungry and craving that mint shake/drink thing :)

Ver Nice Beau, the pano and snow pic that are right nect to eachother are dang nice

Thank you guys! It has been a HUGE learning experience this year. I purchased my first, and still current, DSLR November of last year. This forum section has been a big influence on me to go out and experiment.

I debated on quoting this and starting an entirely new thread about it. This is also something we try and preach every time someone looks at our images and says "WOW, If I traveled fulltime, I'b love to be able to capture images like that too." or "I have to travel to get good images"

It's at that point that I usually have to remind the person that the images they're looking at were taken in their backyard. We just go out and actually explore it and look at it from an artistic point of view.

I try and shoot what ever is around me no matter where we are. We've now lived in Cedar Key for over 2 years and just completed our first book of the area. Most ask us "How can you live here, it's a small island with absolutely nothing to do?" If you're into shooting photography, there is always something to do.

Great quote NWoods!!

Nice work Nathan, Beau and John. While it is always difficult for me at least, to pick out a "best of" set (my favourite photograph typically tends to be the most recent one); it is interesting to see compilations every once in a while, to get a better sense of personal style.

IDK if it is so much personal style as it is personal growth. I really notice when I dig into a collection and see pictures from last year to this year or better yet 10 years ago to now. I continue to get better and see things in a different light. This year has been good for style, but could have been better and I know this.

This thread is full of so many talented photographers. Great stuff from everyone that has shared. I'll have to create my 2011 best of collection in the next week or two.
