Yea, it's a big differance. I measured my front bumper before and after and I am now 8 1/2" taller then when I bought it. I was parked next to a White F250 SD yesterday and realized that I stood just a little taller then him on both hood and bed. Of course he stuck out another foot in the back, but it was cool to see that I am basically at a full size truck height. :xxrotflma
Then today at that swap meet I was parked next to a Dodge Ram 1500 and not only was I slightly taller, but my wheels dwarfed his!:hehe:

Shrockworks Transfer Case Skid Plate
I picked up a used TCase Skid Plate last night and got it mounted right up.
The OEM skid plate for this location only mounts on one side and would not provide any real protection if you really took a hit here. So when a used one became available locally I jumped all over it. I like the idea of the length and that it mounted on two cross beams.
What I did not expect was that I immediatly noticed that my truck drives better with this thing on. My guess is that it creates more rigidity in the frame and that in turn improves the ride quality. I'm not sure if it would make a differance on lower trucks, but with the lift in, it clearly made a differance. I'd really like to install the Transmision skid plate too, but with the bracket lift, the front mounting location for that skid plate is no longer there.

Word of advice...when you go wheeling take the steps off. They'll bend very easily.

Replacing Damaged Parts
During a recent trip to URE I crushed one of my rear shock brackets.
I was lucky enough to find a replacement bracket and this weekend had the smashed one cut off and the replacement welded on. While we were at it we went ahead and boxed both brackets in.
During an outing at GWNF I destroyed my step rails.
I found a used set of custom made rock sliders and had them welded on the truck at the same time we repaired the shock brackets.
Then of couse today I had to go for a ride to URE and put them to work!

thx, yea I am real happy with how they turned out. I want to do some new UCA's and a set Radflo's or SAW's next. But I found an old M416 that I am now restoring, so the truck mods will have to chill for a little while. Hope to have the trailer ready for NOAS meet in late sept.
