I'm wondering if it's possible to mount something similar to this on the side of a flippac, but without the flippac bearing any weight. Could something be retrofitted so that the weight of the bike is mainly on the bedrails, and any outward pressure be compensated by some plate that goes down into the truck bed and secured there through the wall of the bed or into the frame? The way this rack is set up now there is nothing that drops down into the bed, so any outward pressure is taken by the crossbars which wouldn't be possible with Flippac.
You wouldn't need to need to secure to the flippac other than for a small amount of stability I would think. I'm sure you could seal the area under the flippac where the rack part sits on the bed rails.
Would it work?
