Speaking of useless mods, has anyone figured out a cheap way to simulate the grill from last years mojo concept? It's just a satin black wrap with topographic lines but I like the look and would give it a try for $100.

Now that's awesome news!

First major congratulations on the house closing. Man, that was a long struggle. Glad to see you guys come out on top!
.
On the graphics, I know the hood graphic is available through Mopar, but I bet you could go to a local vinyl wrap shop, and have them print one up for you for the grill. Then you can get your favorite topo.
.
Looking forward to watching the progress!:ylsmoke:

I don't think this is the normal way to buy a house. People normally save up money, get pre approved for a mortgage, then buy one.

Our land lords came out of nowhere and said, "hey want to buy this place?" So we went from having like no money to buying a expensive house in Santa Monica in 6mos.

Worked out in the end tho! ha ha. We bought our home off my parents. We instantly gained 250,000 in equity in the home. wooooo hooo.

Lucky people. My friend worked at JPL and couldn't afford a house in Santa Monica. His parents had a house on 5 acres with an orchard in Walnut Creek, $23,000 in 1953. Things have certainly changed out there. I know a few people from Walnut Creek. They all live in ID or CO now. Dennis used to mail me real estate ads from SM about 30 years ago, smaller house and lot, no garage and no sprinkler system, $128,000. About the only place around here is Boulder that is that pricey. A house and lot the size of mine is going for over $300,000. I paid $38,000 for this 109 year old place.

We bought my family home. Its 6200 sqft developed, on 2 acres of land, I have a 2 car garage, my work shop, and lots of land. that cost us 275000. CDN. it appraised at 475,000 because of the dated interior. I am updating everything and we should be well over 500,000 value.

Signed all the paperwork and gave them all of my money this morning. We bought it from our land lords who have kind of been like our west coast parents in that they've been much nicer to us than they should have been. They sold it to us for a good amount under market value to avoid the hassle of getting realtors and staging it. So we're getting some instant equity also.

Yup. Boulder is a nice place. I wouldn't mind living there. Only problem is that there's only one or two good ad agencies there. Mainly Crispin Porter Bogusky. My wife works there briefly before moving to their Santa Monica office. That's why we live in Santa Monica. It's very hard to get into it in the morning and out of it at night. So we have reserves commutes.

I'm sure our place sold for $80,000 30 years ago. It's nuts how the area was never affected by the housing bubble.

Congrats on home ownership fellow jeep brother! Its a great feeling knowing you own something like that.

I installed some ARB IPF H4 conversion headlights last week. The light was whiter. But without the foglights, the low beams were still barely bright enough to see on a darkish city street. The highbeams had more distance but were also too dim and th beam pattern too narrow. Luckily I bought them for $75 off ebay and was able to sell them for $100 on the forums. I also sold my OEM headlights and ordered one of the last sets of Trucklites.

I'll report back on the Truck Lites. I've heard mixed things from folks who have them. But I'm hoping they're the highbeams are bright enough to make dark desert roads safe. And hopefully bright enough to not necessitate aux lighting. I also don't like the look of the JW Speakers and don't want to deal with HID retrofits again.

I also sourced several other cheap parts for the Jeep this weekend. So he'll start getting some new stuff this week. Get thig build thread back on track.

The build rolls on!

I keep getting caught up in the whole headlight thing. Then I realize, "dark" is past my bedtime any way...

So what are you working on this weekend? Or do we need to just be patient, and wait for pictures next week?

Well this is finally out of the way. Kind of. Now I have to redo our garage to get all my tools out of the house. Which will be nice to have access to all my tools and expo gear and maybe even be able to store my hard top.

I always plan to not drive at night. Then end up driving at night on trips. Daily driving isn't an issue since everything's lighted, except the street before my street.

I want to set expectations low, ha. So nothing too exciting. 2.5" Teraflx Budget boost, w/ shock extensions and AEV correction brackets to hold me over until I can get the full AEV 3.5 later this year. Found a good deal on a nice winch locally. Hopefully refinishing and installing that soon. Trucklite headlights. Trying to buy some Mopar enhanced rock rails. Possibly swapping out my wheels with the machined Quadratech Moabs which are 8.5" wide and 4.5" backspacing. There are some local 35x12.5r17 BFG KM2s that are tempting me if I can talk the guy down.

Other things on the to do list:
Finish my OBA system.
Make an on board hot shower system for some summer camping/swimming I have planned. I was going to just get a Zodi Extreme but it seems like it takes up a lot of room and would be a pain to heat up. Between bug spray, dust, lake water, sunscreen, sweat and dog slobber, I like a shower in the summer. Also for a muddy bug sprayed dog who's going to try to sleep on me.

The tl lights are awesome. High beams are great. I still want aux lighting as hitting moose suck. Been there done that with 💩 lighting.
