Build thread photography

Working off of the fireside chat threat about what makes a good build thread, I thought it would be a good idea to start a what makes a good build thread photo. I imagine its easier with an extra person to shoot while one works, but as I do all my work by myself I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to do it. I'm going to be starting my engine and transmission rebuild in about two weeks (when the machine shop is done with them) and have been giving a good bit of thought about how to document this process without having someone to snap pics along the way. A tripod and a remote in a plastic bag will go a long way here, and taking the time to reset the tripod and lights will as well, but I wondered if anyone had any actual experience with this process?
