A long time ago I built foundry tooling for Marco marine products using similar methods.

Would you consider gelcoat in the future instead of paint?

Also if you were to do it again would you have the master CNC machined? A company in the PNW Janicki does a lot of plugs for marine and aerospace.

Gel coat is an option, but I like the ability to paint match to the color of the vehicle.

I’d love to have master molds cnc machined, but the expense of this was prohibitive to me as a small start up so I went the lower cost, slower route. I do, however, have dreams of making a version for short bed Tacomas, so this may be something I look into at a later time if I have the funds.

We recently took a trip to Mt. Rainier with the camper and had a blast! Here's a shot of us posted up by the river. Love using this thing! Should be getting canvas on it this month hopefully and I'll have more updates to follow.

Yes. Likely not for this first prototype model but I will be designing some undercarriage storage boxes to sit forward of the rear tires and a high clearance bumper behind.

Time for a check in! We've been using the camper regularly this season and we absolutely love it! I recently got the pop up tent completed working with a marine upholstery shop and overall very happy with how it's working out. Take a look at the photo (just a quick cell phone shot) and let me know what you think! We built the windows with bug mesh as well as blackout and a removable clear vinyl window. With seven feet of interior head space there's literally so much space inside its crazy to remember this is all still on a midsize truck.
