A long time ago I built foundry tooling for Marco marine products using similar methods.

Would you consider gelcoat in the future instead of paint?

Also if you were to do it again would you have the master CNC machined? A company in the PNW Janicki does a lot of plugs for marine and aerospace.

Gel coat is an option, but I like the ability to paint match to the color of the vehicle.

I’d love to have master molds cnc machined, but the expense of this was prohibitive to me as a small start up so I went the lower cost, slower route. I do, however, have dreams of making a version for short bed Tacomas, so this may be something I look into at a later time if I have the funds.
