We were there last year and probably will be there this year. Not for sure yet though.
We will be out there for new years so we'll do our part while there.

While camping out in Mule canyon last Saturday night.. i noticed one thing. Calico was filthy again. It was a damn shame. The spot we like to camp in was trashed with a old tv and tons of shotgun shells, some even brand new in a box!! The fire in the fire pit was still going!!!! I truly found out what i think the cause of all the trash is. It's not the 4 wheelers or the dirt bike guys.. its damn shooters. Im not for land closures.. but these guys need to be stopped. I think that shooting should be prohibited in this area, because they obviously can't follow the pack it in, pack it out rule that we do. So guess what, we get to pick up a ton of glass and crap again at the cleanup. They make the mess and we pick it up. It just pisses me off.

Why can't they pick up the crap they shoot? :violent-smiley-031:

The AT contingent will be out again this time, along with providing a few raffle prizes again for the hard working volunteers.

I absolutely agree, it was the same last year. Are you going this year? Everybody from the portal who is going should get together.

Remember you have to register: http://www.calicocleanup.com/

The fine print that they don't mention on the signup page is that they are charging a $12 fee per adult to cover part of the cost of the meal and T-shirt. If you don't care about the lunch and shirt sign up anyway and just don't pay when you get there. The main idea is to do the cleanup so don't be put off by the registration fee.

I will be there along with my boys, camping and cleanup, good to give back but a shame that we have to do it in the first place.
I agree that the shooters trash is something I pickup in lots of places.

I say we have a quick ExPo meet and greet out there since we're there.

I'm camping saturday night so let's circle our wagons and hoist a few!

And, since I initially registered as an Independent... I am contacting Mike Wood to have him change my registration online to reflect my affiliation with Expedition Portal.

We might as well get some positive press for ExPo!

Kinda funny with all our group or forum affiliations...which one to choose. LOL.

I camped with one group last year and cleaned up with another...I plan on going this year again.

A lot of people are camping in the Peggy Sue's parking lot and not on the dry lake like last year. Remember the wind? I am sure lots of people will be camping in the canyons and probably on the lake bed too.

Hey Dave, it would be great to camp with and meet some ExPo members - Did the forum decide on where?
