IF you purchase a new tent, do you get the HD cover?

Yep, in fact we still have some of the smaller 55" tents that came with the weak cover so if you purchase one of these you'll get both the heavy and light covers.

All the 71" tents come with the heavy duty cover only.

Cheers,
Fernando

Any chance anybody knows of any reviews of the Serengeti Trailer Tent? I would love to see some more details of that. In particular, I want to know how the large rainfly/awning thing works. How long does it take to deploy, and can you not deploy the whole thing to save time? I really like this tent, but I just don't want to have to spend a lot of time deploying the whole thing if I don't need it.

unfortunately i don't think i'll be able to mount the trailer tent on the AT Horizon before the Wheel-In, I need to fabricate a proper support to secure it to the trailer and won't have the time. i will bring a large Serengeti rooftop but not the trailer tent.

Hopefully i'll have the trailer tent installed for a proper photo shoot the week after the wheel in.

There is no need to fill your precious cargo space with tents, air mattresses and sleeping bags when you can carry an ARB Simpson II tent on the roof like that...

awesome; however, this is for Camping Lab reviews...not ARB. Thanks for the input! I concur about cargo space

Aside from being a spammer, he does make a good point about the RTT. My camping Labs version RTT can easilly hold our sleeping bags and pillows while folded shut. Saves a lot of room in the Jeep.

I love my Camping Lab. I also think I can keep it working way more than 5 years!!!

I agree. If you take care of it and use it wisely (meaning care with setup and take down) it should last a long while.

I spray the outside with tent water proofer if I am expecting poor weather, but so far it is quite warm, dark, and comfy. I went to Costco and bought a memory foam mattress topper and also a set of nice bed sheets that are for the tent only. Makes for a civilized nights sleep and unparalleled comfort for a camping trip of more than one night.

What size tent do you have and what size memory foam did you get?

I just got my tent. I guess I can match the size when I go to costco. Before my wife and I got a new bed, we had slept on the Costco memory foam for about a year. We loved it.

Thanks for the heads up!

i have the large RTT by campinglab, and also got the awning. the covers provided with both are heavy and i think they will last with care and proper use. both the tent and awning are made of some sort of ripstop material that feels sturdy and the stitching looks good. i am sorry to say i havent been able to get a night out in the tent yet but soon...very soon. the mattress provided feels great but wont really know until i sleep in it. both the tent and awning were very easy to instal/mount. the tent sets up in a bout 4 minutes if you take your time and the awning is about the same. i sprayed the tent and awning with scotch guard as soon as i got it so hopefully it will be water proof for years of use.

this is the tent and awning on my trailer
