Is there a special way you put it in the channel. It doesnt seem to fit tight and just pops out.

No 'special' way - it slides into the very corner channel - Best I can do because it's stored in the rafters right now...

Thanks for the pics. I was trying to put it in the top channel not sure why. Forest for the trees sort of thing. Fantastic - thanks

Fernando at Camping Lab carries two brands of RTT. The Camping Lab branded tent and the Serengeti.

There are major differences between the two. Which one are you looking at buying?

Not trying to throw a wrench but the Mombasaa is exactly like the camping lab from what I've seen. Almost looks like they are from the same factory. Just a tidbit... not trying to hijack.

What's the normal wait time for delivery for these tents?

I've hit 2 weeks now since I ordered, and haven't heard anything.

Just curious.

Thought I would post up a pic of my first outing with the new tent and some impressions. I got the larger tent from camping lab. I do allot of camping with the family - wife -2.5 year old and one on the way so I needed something that would work for everyone. The tent is very easy to set up. I stow a small step ladder in the truck and it definitely helps with setup and take down. The tent is a beast to put on the rack by yourself. I did it but it was very difficult. I got some help to take it down. A pulley system is in the works to remedy this. Other than that a very cushy way to go. I was very please all around. Seems solid, material is thick. I'll probably camp dry it at some point. Really impressed with the cover. The next day after mounting it we got allot of cold wet rain that eventually turned to snow. Over the next week it rained on and off. Opened it up at the camp spot and was bone dry. Highly recommended product but after years of pup tent and bivy camping this is like a luxury condo.

I have had a Camping Lab tent for 6 weeks now. I have spent 4 nights total in it. I have 3 kids who all play sports so a "typical weekend" away for me is a mad dash out to the desert Saturday morning(2hrs) for some 4x4 time and hiking with 1 or 2 of my kids. Returning by noon on Sunday to make a game. With only 24 hours the tent is a real time saver, cutting 1 hour of total camp setup/takedown out of the picture. Also, we can't be picky about weather and have spent 1 night in the rain and wind, 2 nights in wind(38-45 degrees), and 1 perfect night so far. It has performed well in the elements. I leave it on my roof all the time so I am ready to go at a moments notice. All in all it was a great fit for me and I am very happy with the quality. If I had an extra 60k maybe I'd get a sportsmobile but this is great for now!

How long did it take for yours to arrive once you ordered it?

wow .. first time i have read this read cuz i thought it was for the camping labs tent only... well i have the serengetti and we love it.. quality is top notch and fernando's service was the best,, we used the tent 5 0r 6 weekends last year.. i spent 4 days in some pretty heavy non stop rains and the tent was absolutely bone dry.. we got out once in the fall it was starting to get cold at night .. threw a heater in for 30 mins.. and the tent held the heat very well.. this is absolutley the best tent i have ever slept in.. and the cool factor is well ,,,, just cool. this year i will be spending 8 weeks in the tent .. between may and sept. and if im lucky 1 or 2 more weekends along the way..

I just saw the 3 man star Gazer from Howling Moon that is now availiable in the USA through BunduGear (spelling). I was so impressed. The thing was built like a tank. Fit 3 adults with room to boot. The rep is from South Africa and spent 8 years as a guide there so he really knows his stuff. I think they might be at the Expo and worth a look. I just bought one and will report back when it arrives.

I was assuming that since it I asked in the thread about the Camping Lab tents, folks would know what kind of tent and who from.

It's a Camping Lab tent, from Camping Lab.

There was discussion of other tents as well, soooo... It took a couple of weeks to get mine. Everything you have heard about Fernando is true, top notch guy and service is great. I wont bore you with the details but I also ordered a rack from him a while back and when it arrived it had some shipping damage. He took care of me right away and It was more than enough. If you haven't talked since the transaction, I would definitely get in touch with him. Seems like you have waited a long time, something must be up.

Thanks! Yeah I've talked to him a few times. Seems like I can always get ahold of him when I have questions which is very nice. I called yesterday and he said 6-8 days for delivery, I'll assume that it's business days. I can be patient even though it's hard and I was hoping to get to use it this weekend.

Fernando says the ladder extensions are 2-3 months out right now, he did say though that ARB extensions should work. (too bad they're more $$)
