You asked me via PM for information where this site was, I give it to you with the simple request that you not speak
about the specifics on the Internet. Guess you couldn't honor that simple request?

Big Secret huh? I don't think anything in the Grand Canyon is a secret...

Some places are seldom travelled to or written about, some of these places are special enough that they are worth leaving as surprises.

On many things I would agree with you. I have seen my favorite out of the way camping spot turned into a mess with vaulted toilets but in this particular instance, the Grand canyon has been and will always be a hot spot for those looking to get off the beaten path. Even the road into Whitmore is well used so it is not like you are the first to be there. Don't get me wrong, I keep quiet about a lot of my favorite hunting and fishing spots but as long as their are websites about Whitmore people are going to find it. it is not like it is a huge secret when BLM and off road amagazine publish articles on it...

Sharing with your fellow overlanders makes more sense than trying to keep it a secret. The majority of the folks on here are not out to modernize or make a mess of your super special not so secret location. Leave the closed minded thinking to politicians.

The names of the sites were next to the pictures you posted. The spots are pretty easy to find with an internet search and they are pretty well talked about online so no real surprises. I was looking for spots along the North Rim to stay on our way back from Moab later this summer.

If someone asks you to keep a location secret then do so. It's the honorable thing to do.

Whether or not a location is referenced elsewhere is irrelevant.

the point is, why keep it secret if its likeminded people. closeminded thinking is one of the fundamental problems with north america.
