short on time

I know that it is taking me alot longer to build than I had first hoped. I had to remove about 3 weeks of work by cutting off the frame that i hade made for the torke flex axels. but now I have 4 different choices I can now go sprun under or over with the axel up or down giving me the chose of 17, 22, 27, or 32 inches of clearance. I have chosen the 27 inch stance which is in the picture of the trailer bhind the jeep. I plan on getting the trailer primed on sunday of this week.

Lifting Mechanism

Rebuilding a 10,000lb winch

Motor Mount with protector guard

support for a slide-out bed

mount with motor in place

slide on the floor showing pullies and cables

torque flex axles did not work - I could not get enough approach angle. went with a drop axel from Princess Auto, reversed the arch in the tube, put the drop up, and sprung under with the springs

finally hooked on behind towing vehicle - `85 Jeep CJ

Any collapsed & extended lengths of the supports ??

Great work on this....isn't CNC waterjet amazing! I wish I could justify owning one but they are pretty expensive, not only to purchase, but also to run. I'd say you got a good deal at $2200 for all that cutting.

I find the order in which you assembled the trailer very interesting. 99% of people would have started with the frame, getting the wheels and the tongue all established, and then moved onto the box. You did exactly the opposite. Any reason why? Did you run into troubles with alignment or squareness by approaching it from this angle? Very curious.

Are you going to have some sort of deployment strategy for the 14' aluminum boat? They are certainly not light enough to just pop on and off the trailer top....even with two people.

good new's I went past the RV shop to day they told me that the cables were rated for 2,000 lbs each and that the lifting slides were rated for 1,000 lbs each. they said that it would be no problem lifting the lid with the boat attached.

Yes i used automotive paint, mixed it 8 parts paint, 2 parts thinner, 1 part hardner.

The cables loop over the pulleys pulling from the bottom causing the roof to lift.

picture from the bottom side of the camper looking up. The cable comes to a central pulling system in the centre of the floor.

all four cables come to the angle iron which is attached to the winch.

Setting up for the first time in the wild (camper has to be perfectly level or the slides will bind when lifting)

Just testing clearances in the washout

OH... that just isn't going to cut it... scrap the WHOLE thing and start over...
How could you even call that boat haul'n, compact trail trailer that you can stand up in, outboard tote'n, hard top jumble O canvas... a finished trailer ??
Is that a generator ?? !!! What nerve you have to go out and use it... shame.

That's awesome... It turned out great. That is exactly what I was trying to make mine like at first until I decided it would be too hard to make the top lift. Apparently you proved me wrong. Can you provide some more details of the canvas attachment top and bottom and were you had it made? I'm having a hard time finding a source for custom canvas.
