Don't tempt me!
Dan, have you looked at other companies that might do the gear cutting work? I assume you have a drawing of the specs of the gears you had made, which would theoretically make it easier to get some quotes a bit further afield. Take a look at hardmanbros.com.au, they are in Melbourne but might be worth a try....I'd love the gears but too exxy for me at the moment, a boy can dream?
Dave.
Obviously a specialised job then, good luck with the search and if I could be of any help down here in Vic, then I'd be happy to do some running around.....keep me in the loop as I am still interested in a set if the price is right. Dunno if your on facebook? I'm technically not, but I stalk my wife's account and there is an increasing number of canter owners on there who may be interested in the gears, search for 'Mitsubishi canter 4x4 owners', as it's a common complaint for us all. One of them even stuck in a supercharged LS3, fun to watch on youtube, , but I still prefer my little old diesel.Yes I am looking at other gear cutters as I did a while ago. But there is a problem with that in a lot of them can't handle this small a gears, even though they are bigger than Cruiser or Patrol gears they are considered small and they have trouble cutting the dog teeth that the high/low selector hub meshes with. It certainly would be nice to come in at a lower price.
Dan.
Hi Dan how far down the track have you got with this are the new cut gears in the gearbox or transfer case would appreciate further info pleaseI'm looking at getting another run of gears made and the price has come through and it is a lot better than before. We are looking at $4,500 a set. I will be asking for deposit as I need to pay them (the Gearcutters) a deposit to start. This price is good only on a multiple buy as a single price is a lot dearer.
Please let me know as I need to give them an "Okay" on the job.
Dan.
