Tell me more about Good Hope/Blue Notch...:coffeedrink:
I zipped up a .gpx file with tracks for this loop to show you where it is.

Here is Good Hope Bay, a designated vehicle camping area:

The drive over Blue Notch Pass is scenic and easy as long as it has not rained hard recently. I've seen cars at the bay that probably took that route. That is the route that GCNRA has in mind for people to reach the camping area... due to the low lake levels you can also access it via Red Canyon via the dry lake bottom... but dry is relative. I went alone the first time there and was ok. The second time we traversed it right after a flood and the road was kind of washed out at each creek crossing. There was an abundance of quicksand, which I was the only one to get stuck in.

Checking the crossings on foot had its perils too:

Your GPS will come in handy finding the only point where you can access the road from lower Red Canyon:

Bring some pruners or a saw, the tamarisk takes over the trail pretty badly.

Piute Pass is HIGHLY scenic and you feel like you are the only one to ever drive it. Some places are narrow, it looks like ATV's are the most common users of the route.

A very adventerous, very scenic loop that rewards you with a beautiful campsite on Lake Powell. One of my favorites!

Thanks Alex. Much appreciated! I will throw out these ideas to my traveling companions...

I have spent the last few days nailing down specifics for this trip, and I wanted to give a -BIG- "THANK YOU" to everyone for their advice and such to help with my planning. I have referred to this thread multiple times, and I even plan on camping at Good Hope Bay on the last night.

Wishing you a great trip. My trip is put off until later April but I wish I was going now.

Good Hope Bay looks really interesting. Please post your experiences. Maybe someone could get a group trip going there sometime.

Wow, looks like you had a great time! I can't wait to check it out on our trip in July. Did you get a guide and how was your experience with that?

I've been following this thread as I have never been to these places and am trying to get it together for a trip this fall. After all the suggestions, what areas did you end up going to? Looks fantastic.

Excellent! :clapsmile

Looks like you got the full meal deal on this one. Love the MV, NBNM and CdC shots. I appreciate the 62/60 love too. (was that 60 at Hollow Mtn?)

Love how your LX looks too, now that I can see it without all of the snow on it. What a great way to enjoy your Spring break. I have a feeling there's more maybe.....?

Please tell your Dad I said 'hello" and to get a new hat. ;)
