At the risk of speaking for Alex, I think his pictures come from Arch Canyon. Arch Canyon is in Southern Eastern Utah on Comb Wash, about 1/2 way between Blanding and Natural Bridges National Monument off Highway 95.
Yes, you are 100% correct!

Drat! I camped at Comb wash on the south of 95 back in April and didn't know Arch Canyon was there. Oh well, good excuse to go back. It would be nice if it can still be accessed by vehicle.
The Monticello Draft Resource Management Plan will take effect in July of this year, according to the schedule on the BLM website. Write your, make your plans!

Wow, things are coming together nicely. I realized I have Monday off of work as well, so I am hoping to come home even later...

Slight change in plans:
After camping South of Moab the night of the 19th, we are going to head over to Mesa Verde for the day, and arrive in Valley of the Gods late on the evening of the 20th.

Looks like our tip will pospone until about 3rd week April. Current plan after CdC is to spend roughly 3 days on Cedar Mesa. Valley of the Gods, maybe go up Comb Ridge road. Visit Arch Canyon while we still can. Just hang out. Then it's two nights back to San Diego. Exact dates, times, routes will be come clear early April.

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for camping in between CdC and Monument Valley area?

That's all Navajo Reservation, you are not really supposed to camp at large.

Why not stay at either the free campground at CdC or Goulding's Lodge in Monument Valley? It's only a 2 hour drive between the two.

Figured it was still on the rez.We just want to head out an hour or so out of CdC. I think we will just wing it and head up to hwy. 95 and camp somewhere out there, or even spend the night again in Valley of the Gods. We are tentatively looking at going home through the Swell/Huntington Canyon/Fairview/SLC

On Hwy 191, there really isn't much out there between Chinle and Mexican Water, except a few stray dogs. There is a hotel (a Best Western, I think...?) in Chinle right outside of CdC.

Other than that it's just wind-swept nothingness on the rez. Like Alex mentioned, dispersed camping is not encouraged. It may be possible with a permit from the tribes, which as an out-of-stater, would probably cost you around $50. At least that's what they charge for out of state rez permits near me.

There wasn't too much in Bluff, UT either as I recall...

Arch Canyon is a worthwhile detour on 95 between 261 and 191. If you have not driven there, this year will probably be your last chance.

Another option is Good Hope Bay on Lake Powell. An easy drive over Blue Notch Canyon, or a more adventurous trek over Piute Pass and down Red Canyon. Then back to the 95 via Blue Notch.

There are lots of options on 95... how many days did you want to take to get home? :D :safari-rig:

Be sure to empty your car/truck of any non-bolted down objects.....they have a huge theft problem, and the police are not very responsive. It took them almost 2 hours to drive 1/4 mile when my jeep was broken into. The hotel security guard said he saw people checking out the cars in the middle of the night, but didn't say anything to them. Not sure if it has gotton any better since I was there about 3 years ago.

They do have a pretty good breakfast at the hotel though......I forget what I had, but it probably should have given me a heart attack....something with eggs, sausage, fry bread......
