Well good news I got to drive it to the gym and I can report NO RATTLES. Thank Jesus, if it was rattling I would have probably gone total Jeremy Clarkson and destroyed it with a hammer. :sombrero:

Got the Jeep back from the body shop!

Really good shop in my area was able to replace the bent lower front cross member as well as replace the bracket that was bent to supports the AEV bumper. They did a really good job I have to say, looks like nothing happened... well except for the crush cans. Damn I got to get those replaced.

Before:

After:

Speaking of crush cans, I was able to get a picture of the passenger crush can and wow that thing is gone. I do believe I will have to replace the AEV bumper in the future (Hopefully with another AEV bumper) as I am seeking cracks start to form all over the bumper... with rust.:Wow1:

I am going out to the ranch tomorrow so hopefully I will get a bit of wheeling in and maybe a little bit of overlanding? haha.

Man that sucks about the bumper likely needing replacement down the road, especially knowing the premium that AEV bumpers come at. Would be kind of neat if AEV honored some sort of replacement at a reduced cost so you don't have to buy the bumper twice. That being said, enjoy the ranch!:friday:

Yea I need to talk to Jones Jeep about getting the bumper replaced. I hope there is something that we could sell the bumper back to AEV for scrap and get a discount but I have no clue.

Thanks man! I will be sure to take pics with my DSLR!

I think your SOL on getting a replacement since its due to accident damage. NOT manufacturer defect. AEV are on here...they should chime in soon!

I'm fully aware that they wouldn't replace the bumper at no cost, and that I am going to have to pay for it. :(

I don't know what I want to do. Maybe get a used Hard Rock front bumper or even a stubby but I WANT the AEV bumper again because it saved my life and Jeep during the accident.

Also everything I have had done to the Jeep has been out of pocket. Insurance claim has been closed and I don't know if they would have dropped me if I had taken insurance money.

Take a hard look at the Warn Elite bumper. I got mine delivered to the door, all in for $550.00. It is similar in appearance but significantly more robust that the AEV.

Little soft off roading today at the ranch, didn't want to break an axle or something haha.

Started to really mess around with the settings in my Nikon and in post editing and I am really liking the results.

I would look at the warn elite.....OR, maybe get 2 new crush cans for your bumper.....and find a body shop, they maybe able to get it back into shape for you. I agree, the AEV is an awesome bumper.

The nice thing about OEM, AEV and ARB bumper is they are engineered to be a primary crumple zone.
If you look behind that cross member you'll see the frame horns are dimpled. This is done so that in a major collision, they compress back absorbing energy.
I would much rather have the bumper collapse and absorb the energy than the frame.

It looks like your AEV bumper did a good job in compressing/bending to save the frame rails.
Hard to beat that.

Exactly, thats why I like AEV is because they design their bumpers really well.

My bumper is obviously bent in a bit but from a distance you couldn't even tell. I probably won't get a new bumper until I get a winch so Ill probably just order some touch up paint and get the crush cans replaced.

Probably get the skid place to so I can protect the 900 bucks I spent on repairing the lower crossmember. :sombrero:

Need some advice

Ok so I am in a bit of a dilemma.

I will be getting 35" BFG KO2s in October and I am in need of a solution for the tire carrier. I know that there is no way I will have the new spare on the tailgate because I don't want spot welds to start popping, etc. Bad stuff.

I believe I have ruled out the AEV tire carrier because I think it costs way to much and to get a shop to install it since I don't have the tools to, would probably be around 1,000 bucks. My wallet says no.

So I have two solutions. Terra flex tire carrier (Which I do like), or the MORryde heavy duty carrier.

Can anyone point out the two and give some pros and cons? I know that there is a 200 dollar difference between the two but if I can pay that extra for better quality, I will. I would really like some input as I want to make the right choice the first time. :)

I love my teraflex carrier for its ease of use, oem appearance, freedom to chose any Rear bumper and teraflex support is second to none.
