Changes in store for Colorado platform vehicles???

Something coming down the pipe? Mid model upgrades perhaps? Has anyone read about impending changes for the Colorado based vehicles?

I saw a fleet of about 10 Colorado based vehicle headed North on I15. Some were towing a variety of heavy trailers. There were several H3 varients, including an extended wheelbase version and even an SUT type. They had body cladding(sp) on them to "hide" the new designs.

I have always suspected they will offer the 6 cyl motor in the H3 eventually.

No camera:mad:

Doesn't it allways seem like when you want your camera you don't have it? I live close to GM's desert test track, and haven't seen any of them here.

I thought that since the H3 and Colorado were a shared platform they both had the 5 cylinder 3.7L engine. Can you get a 6 in the Colorado? I'd always figured they'd put a V8 in them eventually, if anything. But I thought that 3.7L I-5 is supposed to be an OK engine.

I think the I5 is great in the Colorado but they offer the larger I6 in the Trail Blazer and for the life of me I can't figure out why they didn't put it in the H3 too.

I'm counting the Trail Blazer as a Colorado platform vehicle too.

Exactly. Like yesterday when I was driving through the San Diego backcountry and I saw a big old gobbler strutting his stuff for his hens...

Or the deer playing in the meadow...

Or the hookers strutting down Decatur Blvd. when I got to Vegas:smilies27

I recall reading a few years back about the Colorado/Canyon's engine compartment being too short for the I6 out of the Trail Blazer. I had a Trail Blazer as a company vehicle prior to the Silverado and despite its flacid shock dampening, that motor was a jewel. Granted the power came on rather high on the cam, it was smooth and pulled great.

My dad had one as a company vehicle before they bought him a loaded Tacoma 4x4...

He put 100k mostly trouble free mile on it before turning it over.

The H3 Alpha will be getting the 5.3L V8 with 295 horse power and a new 6000 pound towing rating. You also saw the new H3 SUT that will also be coming out in 2008. I am currently looking at the H3 Alpha. I just can't decide if I should wait the 3 months it is going to take me to get one.

i havn't heard anything on the colorado/canyon forums about impending changes, and those guys are pretty on it. i personally hope they don't change the I5, it's a great engine blending capable hp/torque with decent gas milage (i average 20-21 mpg of mixed driving). a larger engine would be a step in the wrong direction for the entire industry in this era of climate change.

I think the H3 is underpowered and the I6 would probably get the same mileage as the I5 in the H3, but I think it's great in the Colorado.

fair enough, i've never driven an H3, it may very well be too heavy. i'm personally glad GM came out with this engine though, like you said it works very well in the colorado/canyon!:iagree:
