Cherokee trailer

That is going to be TALL! You may have to go back to SUA to get it back down.

Where did the taillights go? I thought it still had the stockers on it?

Hey guys! I'm pleased to see my mobile storage shed going to someone who will use it for my original intentions. You know how it is, too many projects and too little time. Its looking good Trav, keep it up!

He has them... I had removed them to swap the less kludged wiring harness into my MJ and never got around to re-installing them.

Thanks!

Now we just need to get you're adventure rig going...

As for the height issue, I have a couple of options if it is too tall. I'm going to be adding a heavy bumper that I got with it from Mark, and some of the other plans I have for it should help bring it down a bit. If that doesn't lower enough I can put some new springs in the rear of my jeep to level it with the trailer, raising the jeep 1", it is sagging a little in the back anyway. I could also remove a leaf from the pack of the trailer springs, but I would rather not loose the load capacity.

Still can't make up my mind on what color to paint the topper.

I think what I may try is getting some black primer and painting it with that to see what I think. If I like it I can paint black over it, if not I can go with the silver.

Ok, it is huge! We put the new wheels and tires on it tonight. Sorry, no pics, forgot the camera tonight.

When hooked up to the cherokee, it sits low in the front. With 400 lbs in the back of the trailer, it sits 2" higher in the back than the jeep.

We are going to lower the lunette ring tomorrow to level it out. The bumper should add a little weight to the trailer when I put it on. It looks quite a bit bigger than the cherokee, but when you put a tape measure on it, it isn't all that bad.

All said and done, with the lift and tires, it sits 8" higher now.

Going to be adding shocks tomorrow.

Finally got some pics today.

Had to add a new tounge jack to match the new height.

Ended up using some Rubicon Express shocks to match the ones on my jeep. I've got the RE monotubes on the Jeep, just used the RE nitro shocks for the trailer. Found that the rear shocks for a TJ with a budget boost fit great after trying a few different ones.

Lowered the lunette ring and cut a little off of the top to allow it to clear the spare tire. Going to finish it up better later.

Towed it home last night with a load in it, and on the new axle and tires. It pulled great, got around 12 mpg.

It is very noticable that my jeep is sagging in the rear when the trailer is hooked up. Its not due to the tounge weight, it is just time for some new springs. I'm going to order the new RE 5.5" spring packs to level it back out. I am going to see where that puts me, and probably put some cherokee shackles on the trailer, which are shorter than the comanche ones. Just going to take it one step at a time.

It looks great, how long is the inside of the bed? 6,6.5? That would make a neat sleeper

Looks good.

Honestly, if it were mine i'd consider bringing it down. I think it sat better before the SOA. Looks like it may be a PITA to climb in and out of? But hey, we all have our own style and thats cool.

You mention flares... Bushwackers? If thats the case maybe SUA and you should have clearance for the tires. That should sit level with the Jeep if my math is right.

Looks like you have some prime real estate to mount a water tank under the bed.

I'd like to see a pic attached to the Jeep now, if you can get it out of the garage. ;) ;)

If you dropped it down with swapping the axle to the top of the spring would the level match your jeep better? If your going to do the same wheel flares as the jeep it might look a little better lowered a bit.. but that does give you an excuse for lifting the jeep more,,,, Looks great so far keep the pics coming!
