classic range rover diesel conversion

I'm really looking forward to seeing this part come together


well on mid December i will on my way to salmon fishing, so consider it done already :) the flywheel for 6.5 diesel is just HUGE , ITS bout 40 lb. drive shafts are coming in sometime this week. new transfer case mounts have been fabricated , working on the pedals now,
 
almost ready to go :)

Are the bellhousing pics in #317 the "new" and the "old"? Looks like a beefy bellhousing on the left, what's it from?
I agree that your hiway rpm's are too high; but for maximizing efficiency, why haven't you turbo'd it yet?
And for others with diesels not wanting to run wvo, utf, or other blends, at least run an additive to increase the lubricity. ULSD isn't the cat's meow, especially for older engines.

BTW, who's 2nd in line for your old parts ;)

turbocharging will add power but wont add 2 more gears :) the bell housing from t56 is not large to clear the massive diesel flywheel, ( 50lb) so what we did is , we used the 4l60e bell housing that is very beefy , and we had the machine shop shave one inch from the back side , so the transmission shaft will reach to crank shaft, to be balanced ,

now that my kit is tested proven working and out of the car, i can give the exact measurements of the kit .. 4 items in the kit and will cost u about 250 bucks to make.

as far as the kit used on my car, it ready to go to a good home :)

going the T56 way is extra $ 3500 but it will kick *** :)

Yes you're right, forced induction won't lower rpms, but it will increase volumetric efficiency. I think to get to the mpg goal you have, it really should be a consideration......
If anything, there's the cool factor of a turbo run through straight pipes :sombrero:

But anyways, what's going to be the price for your information to produce the Detroit/ZF adapters??

now that i am sure my t56 trans can handle 500 hp. i may consider turbo. that will be beautiful, and easy job to do.

my info about adapter specs are 100% free,

4 items in the kit, with exact measurements that any machine shop can make when you take that to them. actually only one needs to be done true the shop the rest can be made at home..

i will post a video on youtube tomorrow about how to make your own kit at home (that's a better idea)
