20 bucks of diesel ( 4,07 a gallon ) will move my rover to 140 miles away :) at 75 mph . not bad for 7000 lb very non aerodynamic full time 4x4

Umm your getting 28mpg??? Really? 20 I would believe in a heartbeat 28 is hard to swallow.

Regardless awesome conversion. But please stop talking up the 6.2, I am working on securing one for myself and they stay cheaper as long as everyone still thinks the only diesel is spelled cummins. :sombrero:

EDIT I just read about the .50 6th gear. That makes more sense but still.... dang.

Matt here is how i did the test,
i drove the rover till gas light came on,and i made sure it was on for at least 5 miles on a flat road, then i filled up diesel 20 bucks Odo was reset to zero and drove it till the light came on for at least 5 miles on the flat road, and guess what 139.7 miles :) 70% freeway driving 30% city

i am gonna do few more of those tests to be more accurate , but 20 mpg is what most of the blazer owners get on 4 speeds , i got 2 more gears :)

at 65 mph on the freeway at 6th gear my motor is almost idling with no load

as long as everyone still thinks the only diesel is spelled cummins. hahaha good let them dream , and stay home while i enjoy my 6.2 powered range rover with over 25 mpg.

one of my HUMMERS is powered by 6.5 non turbo basically the same as 6.2, this beast will rape any cummins ,it has 150k miles on it and has over 30.000 lb pulling power on low range

i say >>> BRING IT ONNNNNN <<<<<<

I GOT FACTS, THEY GOT DREAMS AND STORIES

HERE IS CUMMINS LOVERS SPECIAL LOLLLLLLLLLL

Eric how does it drive on the 6th speed ?
For calculating your mpg please do not rely on the rrc light it is no accurat ,fill your tank to the neck at the same truck drive more than 100miles and come back to the same pump fill it to the same level and do the math .
Did you recalibrate or check your speedo is it accurate ?
But still 140 miles ,224 km on 18.2 l is ammazing

I have a 6.5 Turbo in a Chevy 3500 with 4x4 that gets 19 mpg on the freeway with 190,000 on the clock. These motors are efficient. I believe Eric is getting those high numbers at such a low RPM.

The question is not belief is the proof of concept ,that is you lower rpm of an engin you can get better mpg and maintain your highway speed ,suddenly the idea of an old diesel become appealing if matched to a 6 speed manual trans .
So what if we bolt the 6 speed to 300 tdi ?

i will do that test this weekend, wow that's gr8 test idea , yes my speedo is exact , i did check with navigation speed also, and my friends range rover next to mine on the freeway

on the 6th gear it drives very very smooth, but it must be going at least minimum 65+ 75 is the perfect speed for it, otherwise rpm stays lower than 1500

Awesome, it's gotta feel good knowing you designed it yourself.

it feels good to
run cooler,
hear passenger next to me,
not visit gas stations as often
drive at 75 mph
pass cars and trucks with no problems

this weekend she is going on 600 mile trip, lets see how she does :)
