:sombrero: Yeah grogie-

^Jimbo, an electric coffee pot makes sense. Hum...

There's plenty of room in my Kuke, I don't know about yours, but

My trailer has a battery/w outlets and it's just a couple feet up/into the RTT----I've been collecticting 12vdc acc. cable extensions for years-

I was given a 4-cup 12vdc coffee pot by Field and Stream--years ago and I've used it when camping for quick wakeups--

Checkitout--it's save your initial comfort for that first cup uf coffee-

I think REI and Cabellas have some pretty good ones-

Good luck grogie--I'm still in Ca.-

Just bought a CVT Mt McKinley and slept in it for the first time. The mattress is okay not my preference for sleeping and looking to supplement it. I see many people say the memory foam gets hard when cold but how cold does it have to be for the foam to turn hard?

The most comfortable mattress I know of is the Exped Megamat. As close as you can get to your bed at home. The Exped Synmat 12 is a close second.

Best comfort in a ground tent is the Camptime Roll-a-Cot wide used with the REI Campbed 3.5 or the Synmat 12. Sadly, the Exped Megamat is too wide for this cot.

Yes, I'm orthopaedically challenged and a bit obsessed with mattress comfort. See my reviews here:

Another thread bump. Several good threads on double sleeping bags here in the Camping Equipment section. My old old Coleman 0 degree bag zipper is giving out - the typical separation issue after zippered. PITA to force the pull thru the separation to 'fix' it. I'm happy with my Eezi-Awn mattress pad. I'm a very cold sleeper because of heart meds that keep my heart rate rather low so I get cold at night - thus a 0 degree bag in SoCal, especially winter desert camping - yes it does get cold out here too! It's just me camping (the wife does NOT camp), but thinking about a double bag for the extra room it affords over the single bags. Yes, I know it'd be harder to keep warm compared to a single bag with only me.

Anyone have any experience with the Teton bags? I've been thru all the links in the several threads and this one for a 0 degree bag looks like a decent value.

Looking for any feedback/experience on this brand or any others - double bag, 0 degree.

Did you try to google reviews on that bag?

I have the Teton 0 Degree bag. It is very, very comfortable and very warm. I chose the 0 degree because I figured it would lose loft over time. The biggest drawback of this bag is it's large packed size. A bit of a workout to get it back into it's stuff sack. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably get the 20 degree for easier packability. I believe the two halves can be used on their own, and make half queen sized bags but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks hoser! Not worried about pack size - it'll go into my Eezi-Awn Globetrotter trailer top tent and stay there on the mattress. :wings:

Just wanted to add my own data point to what seems to be a very on again off again thread...

I have one of the newer CVT Shasta Extended Summit RTT's and, like many, found the stock pad to be painfully hard. Long story short, there's a local foam place that does upholstery and such. I spent some time there and ended up with this setup: we cut the original high-ish density pad in half to about 1", added 1" of lower density pad on top of that, then 2" of a memory foam on top of that. Total cost was about $200, but it is perfectly shaped to match the original pad footprint, and we were able to try out a number of different combinations before settling on this, so we're confident that this is as good as it gets down this path. Best part is the memory foam compresses pretty well so there's no issue with the tent not closing.

So, if you've got a foam place nearby (we went to Bob's Foam Factory in Fremont, CA) I'd definitely suggest dropping in.

What is the lowest temperature you've slept atop your memory foam topper/mattress?

I need to do this with my James Baroud tent mattress. I was shocked it was the exact same mattress as my cheapo Mombassa tent. For a 3 thousand dollar tent your would expect a thicker more comfortable mattress. That, plus spinal fusion equals I need comfy!!

OK.. so we have a CVT and an ARB RTT and with both, we just ordered this 3" memory foam mattress topper to put on top of the stock foam and it is just as comfortable as our bed at home. MUltiple people have slept in the tents. And said the same. They are incredible. We just leave them and fold them up with the down comforter and sheet we sleep with and put the pillows in the trailer.

When we bought them, We just got the width mattress topper we needed and left the bottom 12-14" as a place to put our shoes. It has worked out perfectly down to the 20's we've camped at.
