Perfect fit in the existing center console with combination lock. Great way to secure valuables and/or firearms!

That is nice.
Three bills, huh?
At least I could get that Diebold out of the back of my truck. I hate it when that thing slides.

When I was a moderator on Toyata Nation they had a group buy on these, and I think they even offered a discount to TN members after the group buy ended, that was a while ago though. I don't visit the site anymore, the powers that be felt it was OK for other moderators to openly harass and berate out of line members so I wanted nothing to do with the site anymore. Anyway that's for another time, you may want to check and see if they still offer a deal to TN members, it might save you a few bucks.

Cheers

Haven't done it yet (no time), but my solution is going to replace the inner plastic with aluminum. I have a 2000, not a new Taco, but the inside of both the glove box and center console are separate from the outer gray plastic. I'm going to unbolt the black plastic inside, take them into the medal shop and make exact replicas out of scrap Al. I don't know what the inside of the new Tacos looks like, but mine that black inner plastic is all square, no rounded shapes, so it should be easy to replace in the shop. Plan to do both glove box and center console. Since I'm using Al, Ill just seal and revet, but it would be just as easy to cut and weld steel.

Not the greatest pic, but you can kind of see how the sides and back are just flat peaces of plastic. I think this is actually a 2005 Taco too.

Having seen one today - I just placed my order. Looks like it bolts into the floor via the inside of the console so it can't be easily carried away.

Thanks Doc for the info! My Glock, my personal liability policy, and I, thank you for it!!!

Hmmm

Ok - it came in yesterday and I installed it. AWESOME construction - very well built and it would be undoubtedly easier for someone to steal the truck than get into this thing.

However, there are some issues yet to be resolved. The fit of the vault into the console wastes A LOT of space. I can stick a 12ga shotgun shell easily behind the cubby portion of the vault and the plastic. Also, I had to elongate the holes that secure it to the truck so it would bolt up. I called Console Vault, to see if maybe this was the wrong model etc. At first he thought maybe Toyota mis-made my console and I just let it slide as he said he would make it good. I will let you all know the outcome. Till then, here are some pics:

Upon further experience

Well, as I said above, the construction is top shelf - very, very sturdy unit - it will undoubtedly protect what little you can put in it.

I have to CAREFULLY finagle my Glock 20 (full frame 10mm) to get it in but only after I remove the light. Once it is in, it is at such an angle that there is little more I can put in there - BUT the important stuff will go - I can have the Glock, my NUVI 250W, and the Garmin 400t along with my Passport Radar detector. But if I need to fetch just one thing of that list, it all has to come out because it is such a tight fit. I can only imagine I have lost 20%+ of my storage capacity due to not using all of the space available in the original console. For $300.00 I expected much better tolerances, but do enjoy the idea of having some security that is dependable.
