Once the kitchen is in (in the back) there will be no access to an end, it will be set up like the teardrops, there will be a side door on the pass side and they can be lifted up from there.

EDIT (also the bed is bigger than what one piece of ply would cover, so it had to be two piece)

Got the under bed storage all squared away, there is enough room to keep all the odd size items secure and out of the way.

Covered the top with a heavy duty vinyl for ease of cleaning.

Added a shelf for our clothes boxes and bathroom boxes.

I dont have a side door in the trailer (yet) it's a bit on the pricey side for the one I want, so for now this will be the temporary kitchen. This temp kitchen only goes 2/3 of the way across so we can still ingress/egress. It will serve it's purpose for now, we have to be able to use the trailer while the build process is going on.

Some out of the box thinking sir. Impressive, most have no idea how much thinking goes into one of these to get all the things you want and have it organized and useable. You have done a great job man.

Well I had originally put my portable fire pit in a Trasharoo bag and just strapped it down on top of the nose box, but on our trip to the Sierras it proved to be a pain in the butt always un-clipping it.

So I decided to mount it on the side of the nose box instead.

Also got a roof vent installed for some much needed ventilation

When we were going to Funnel lake at Coyote flats I forgot to take some action shots of the trailer (oops) but it worked flawlessly here is a poser shot of the clearance but we went over rocks like this on the trail with no problem.

13'7" (163") tip to tail. The box is 103" and the tongue is 60"

EDIT... I shortened the tongue today, I took off 5" so now the tongue is 55" and tip to tail is 13'2" (158")
the FJ door can open all the way and clear the trailer by 1".

are you not concerned about being able to open the hatch while the trailer is cocked over a bit from a turn?

Nice build. Exactly what I am plannign as well. However I would still like it to be a usable 5x8 trailer when not camping. Havent figured that out yet. Question though:

What size material did you use for the receiver on the trailer. Some research shows that real receiver tubing is flash removed (internal weld seam) 2.5 x 2.5 x .233 wall tubing. Is that the box external demensions or the inside measurements?

@rb... the dim's are external 2.5 on the outside. Trailer tongue material has a better fitment than regular square tube also the corners are rounded a bit more.
You could always make the rear kitchen a modular unit where it could slide in and then bolt it down. I almost did that but I have more things in the trailer ie;shelves, under bed storage so it was going to be more of a hassle. But a removable kitchen may work for you.

Thanks. yea throwing ideas around. I can brainstorm forever, but then the project will never get started or even finished. One day I will sit down and just start it. But I can still have a really solid suggestive plan I want to follow. :)

That's funny, I looked all over the place and I can't seem to find your trip report for this run up to Funnel Lake. Did you see many people up there? Hook us up. I was there last year and it was epic.

Happy day..... My new side door came UPS, I've had everything on hold for the trailer until I was able to get this. Now once I install the door I can finish the kitchen and start moving forward with the build. Will post up install pics this weekend.
