Cummins 2.8L Diesel "Repower" engine kit

I am using AXIS since they did Cummins development work and have all the bits. Their adapters are well refined, my trans is an NGS 370 6 speed
AXIS is working on my jeep for the my engine conversion which is little more complicated then a CJ since I am retaining AC along with a host of other changes
Also Cummins is only15 minutes from their shop

I was unaware Novak had developed an R2.8 engine - trans adapter

The guys at Axis were kind enough to spend time with me on the phone. I would send them my CJ right now without hesitation, if I didn't have a builder lined up.
Sorry to confuse - I don't think Novak has an R2.8 adapter, I just meant they are a source for adapting other driveline components (i.e. AX-15 to Dana 300).

Does anyone know if the cummins 3.8 ISF is the next repower engineto be released? Seems it would kill the 2.8 sales. Slightly larger and much more torque.

Not everyone needs a bigger engine and higher torque. I suspect that the smaller engine gets better MPG and weighs less - which is important for many potential customers.

Haven't been able to find out. It's only about 114 lbs. heavier and does have more torque. It would be really good for full size, half ton applications. It will be interesting to see what's next.

Nitro your CJ-8 looks good, The Brute should be hitting the pavement within a couple weeks
I do not believe the 3.8 IF is slated
If you go to the repower site it use to show their candidates
I believe it is the 5.0 and 6.7
word I hear is sales for the 2.8 needs to hit there business plan before the commit to development

Hey MuleShoer - Since your Brute has been delaying my CJ-8, I think you owe us some pictures (more than the background photo's below) of your R2.8 install!!!

Here is mine. Currently being worked on by the fine folks at Axis Industries in Indiana. After 36 years, the original AMC 4.2litre six was quite tired, the several times rebuilt crappy 4 speed Ford transmission was clunky and undesirable, and though the AMC 20 rear end with it's original two piece axles never exploded while parked in the driveway (as many would have you believe...), they were deemed inadequate for the power of a modern Turbo Diesel. So in goes the Cummins R2.8, New Dana 44's with ARB Lockers from East Coast Gear Supply, a brand new AX-15 transmission, a rebuild of the original Dana 300 transfer case, BDS Springs with Fox shocks, 33x10.5x15 General Tires, Custom Axis Industries Fuel Tank, new wiring harness and a stereo. It will still sport old faded paint with all the dents. All business, no flash!

New axles in. Motor, Trans, etc. waiting on install.

Man, I'd love to consider a R2.8 but it's only qualified for 1999 and older. If they could get EPA certification for Tier 2, LDT 2 it would encompass a lot of possible donors that are still viable (e.g. not rusted and worn out needing restoration) e.g up to 2009 in Tacoma, S10 & Colorado, Frontier, etc.
