Damn the Van

Did you replace the rotted gutter with bondo only? Probably not the best spot to attach your roof rack :sombrero:

Also, I've been looking for some new gray seats, Is your score repeatable?

Thank you to everyone for the compliments!

It's not only bondo, I bent steel to form the profile, welded it in place then finished smoothing it up with bondo. As for the seats, I picked them up at a local junkyard for $50.00 for the set. Check with your local pick and pull yards and make them an offer. What I have found out is they will make deals on interior/cosmetic parts since they make their money off mechanical parts and most would prefer to make a few bucks on other parts that most people aren't interested in. I have purchased both seats, entry door steps, doghouse box, driver/passenger door panels, front headliner and various miscellaneous parts for about $150.00. Just negotiate. So far including the van, a COMPLETE service, I am about $1500.00 including lumber for the walls, which I will post pics of as soon as I get my wife to trade laptops with me so I can get my pics!!!!!

Dude, every time I stop at the local junkyards, all they have is junk. Thinking maybe you had a buddy at a van upfitter or something. I'll keep looking though, just got to be there at the right time!

My experience exactly. Kudos on the budget build so far, it's looking greats!

I go pretty often and I am not always lucky. The most aggravating thing is when others destroy perfectly good parts just to get to the part they need. I am still looking for a new passenger side door, have no desire to repair the damage on that door, as you can see in this photo.

Updates.....
the van walls are made up of reflectix, fiberglass insulation and luan plywood that will eventually be covered with grey indoor/outdoor mold/mildew resistant carpet.

This van will need to sleep 2 adults and 2 children, ages 9 & 12. No plans for a penthouse top, we don't plan on spending our days continuously inside when there is a whole world out there to be explored. A place to sleep and to get out of the conditions. For the adults, dinette/bed combo and for the children, bunk beds.....

the bunk beds measure 24" X 67", plenty enough room for them. On the passenger side will be a closet and on the driver side will be enclosed for the porta-potty. The photo is a mock up so I could get a better eye of things. More updates after dinner.
