Dealing with unpleasant/hazardous odors

I'm 99% swayed to a E350 vs a truck, but my main concern is how do I deal with fuel/unpleasant odors in the van?

I ride dirt and street bikes and will use the van to haul bikes to and from riding venues. I don't want to make a permanent wall, but how are some of you guys dealing with the unpleasant odors that these vehicles emit, especially fuel in a closed confined space? I'm fine with mounting a rack to keep jerry cans out back, but I still think the bikes will make it unpleasant. I will most likely start with a 15 passenger as I will use it to haul people to, so I was planning to cut the carpet in front of where the bikes would mount and then make that section removable for when I have the bikes inside. But otherthan that I'm not sure of anything else I can do that isn't permanent.

Thanks, George

I was thinking about a rear wooden floor with a wheel chalk and lined with a bed liner. Pull out the floor when you pull the bikes out, and toss it under the van. I have a buddy that does that on his pathfinder van. But his flooring is covered in a black carpeting or something.

Also if you start up the bike and close off that fuel petcock while is running, itll run the carb dry and not leak fuel.

Other than that, maybe keep some windows open the the rear while you drive.

Jerry cans on the bumper. Run the carb dry. Keep the tank as close to empty as you can. Stick a golf tee in the fuel cap vent hose on a dirtbike. Wooden floor or tarp as a catch pan.

Plan B is a hitch haul bike carrier for, but that is risky on a 15 passenger unless it is a really light bike. The back end of the EB is WAY behind the axle.

Roof vent. Many people swear by them when carting bikes.

I've had plenty of big bikes 450~500lbs on mine hitch carrier, never even feel them back there.

But although I bought the van to cart bikes into remote places, I pretty much broke down and use a trailer or hitch carrier and keep the inside nice and clean.

Thanks for the replies, kinda what I figured would be the case.

Sheep Shagger, I've been following the Vans thread on ADVrider and saw some posts not to long ago of yours with the bikes in the van. I guess you use the a roof vent? Its one thing if its just me, but I'm not interested in hearing the ladies complaing, haha.

I don't have a roof vent yet, but it is on my list. Just make sure you get a model that can be open when driving as I don't think all models are designed for that.
