He he he...
Never seen a pancake in a can before.
We have a tradition of making apple oatmeal pancakes from scratch. They are some hearty cakes, nobody has ever eaten more than three @ 6" diameter. They are lightly fried in butter to give them a crisp edge. And I top them off with a homemade fruit compote of apples & pears. My recipe was inspired by La Bellavia in Flag. If you could clear a dainty plate of 3 Swedish oat pancakes, they would stick a Polaroid of you the wall. A man can snowboard all day on that kind of fuel.
I have also made crepes from scratch in the field. That’s a little trickier if it’s really windy, those guys fly like kites. Nutella & Bananas is a sure way to make friends.
It's so different than (say) Aunt Jemimah that it's a shame they're both called maple.
The good stuff here (Canadian maple syrup) goes for around $30 now for a quart size bottle last time I checked at my local Safeway store.
Is Aunt Jemimah even technically real maple syrup? It probably has so much other garbage in it like artificial flavoring and preservatives and high fructose corn syrup that it is far from being real. Maybe one little drop of real maple syrup per bottle, if you're lucky.
I tend to go for the homemade syrups too, made with local fruits. Huckleberry syrup has to be just about the best.
