Thank You Brett,

I am i bit bemused as to why you might not wish these issues discussed on a public forum?
I thought that was the idea of a forum. As it may serve as a solution for current and future ArkPak users.
I joined up as i could see there was a Rep here to give advise, which is rare these days.
But more importantly as i saw another member had posted what seemed to be the exact same problem i was suffering.

I will follow your directions
But i must say the product does not work for me (and my friend) as portrayed in the videos. In regards to its behaviour on Mains power charging and battery conditioning.
This might be a Battery/ArkPak compatibility issue.
In which case, maybe the ArkPak should come with a list of recommended batteries (that have been tested to work without Open Circuit Alarms) as it seems it has happend to others.
Or maybe the charging circuit should not be time based?

Honestly i don't know, it is really not my job to say, i am just an end user trying to use the product as describe.
I really can not see the harm in discussing these points to hopefully make a better ArkPak or at least prevent future users suffering these same issues.

Hi OzSprinter,
I have just bought the Ark Pac and talking to my battery supplier an AGM battery needs a floating charge of 13.7v to keep the battery fully charged and ensure no damage is done to the battery. From what i have read here in this forum the floating voltage is 13.2v? which could be why people are having trouble?

Considering this device so interested in the response to this. Haven't pulled the trigger yet based on some of the issues people have had.

Hi Ktmman1

excellent follow up question about the float voltage, i will give you the correct answer and the facts behind it as well.

Float voltage for AGM batteries are about 2.2-2.3 volts per cell/plate which equals approx 13.2-13.7 volts. These figures may vary depending on how many cells/plates a battery has

Having an AGM battery on an float charge of 13.2 volts is not going to harm or cause damage to the AGM battery the common float charge range for an AGM is 13.2 to 13.7 volts and we have chosen a float charge of 13.2volts

if you have any more questions about this please ask

Hi kb7our

if you have any questions about the Ark Pak or how to operate it you are most welcome to ask any question you have about the Ark Pak that is what this thread is for to help people better understand the Ark Pak and how to use it.

you may have already seen it but i have attached a field test video of the Ark Pak in action, it is a good video to watch and you can have a laugh as well.

Well, after having both the battery and the new ArkPak at the house since November, I finally set them up. I don't know why I waited this long. For batteries, I did go with the the Sears Platinum size 31. It was new, but had been sitting in my garage for a few months. I was going to use an older AGM battery, but now I am happy I traded that one in for the the Sears. It fits perfectly, but the best part are the two terminal types on top of the battery. It made the hook up of the ARkPak very simple with the supplied wingnuts from Sears.
I was a bit concerned when trying to close the lid on the ArkPak because the cables did not want to cooperate, so I loosened the connections and rotated the cable to a better position and retightened.
After turning on the ArkPak, and entering the battery info, it was reading at 12.7 volts. I then plugged in the charger and watched the ArkPak go through the first three stages rather quickly and I left it in "boost" and went to bed. This morning, it is being held at 13.2 volts at float mode.
I'm going to start "using" the unit in the garage to see how it responds, but I am a happy camper so far.

Hi Brett,
I passed your information onto my battery supplier and they did a complete 180 and confirmed that the AGM battery I wanted would be fine with the Arkpac and they would in fact honour the warranty. I have now set up the new Arkpac with the new battery and everything seems to be working fine. I'm off on a trip this weekend so I will put it through its paces. Thanks for your help and excellent after sales service.

Interested in the charging of AGMs with this as well.

Lysol,
Please see my reply to Brett. AGM batteries are compatible with the Arkpac. It seems my battery supplier did a 180 when I supplied him with the information supplied from Brett
