Dstock's M101A1 build... or the reality, I needed a new project!

Well done! If you cut up an old bicycle inner tube and slide it over the chains it will keep them quiet and protect your paint.

Thanks, and you hit the nail on the head, was digging through the garage looking for an old tube last night!

Great set up! Are you worried about the offset weight distribution due to the tent being positioned more to the passenger side? Have you towed it like that? I have the same trailer and that is my current dilemma. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I'm going to do a pre-trip tow run this weekend but honestly I am not worried about it at all. It's 125lbs tent on top of a 1300lbs trailer (when empty) so I doubt it's going to be an issue. However, I will let you know after this weekend.

On the road

Been pretty swamped but got to take the trailer out on it's maiden voyage, albeit a short one. The trailer performed perfectly! The JK pulled it with no issues, even over some decent size passes.

I realized I don't have any in camp photos handy, have to post those later, but I can say it was the talk of the campground. We were in a traditional campground as we were staying with non-overlanding friends (although this may change!) and several folks stopped by to comment. The comments were of two camps, "Wow, that's really cool!" or "******?"

Lunch break, I've got a quick fist clamp on the tailgate for the Sunbrella:

Checking out the wild animals:

Of course I have already come up with a host of little things I will change/add but it's good for now to get me through the spring camping season.

Awesome! Stealing the quick fist umbrella holder idea. The best mods are the simple ones.

Thanks!

Agreed on the simple mods, I had all sorts of ridiculous elaborate schemes for the umbrella before I came up with the quick fist! I've got an awning on order but in the meantime it seems to work!
