Expedition Portal to cover Interbike 2009

Garmin has out a GPS/bike computer, see if they are there.
An area where I am going to start riding starting in this weekend has 55 miles of singletrack trails, and I hear it is easy to get lost in there :D

I already have a small wireless comp on my bike, but a small GPS might be good too.
Garmin is usually there in large part due to Jonathan Vaughter's road team. I use the Garmin Edge 705. Great unit. Might be one of the better bike widgets I've owned in the last few years. Not ideal for navigating, but great for recording ride data.

Any products or companies you all would like us to specifically check out and get info on?
You might spin by Nite Rider to check out their newest "Pro" series lights. The top dog goes up to 1200 lumens and can be interfaced with your PC to customize the light settings. I'm gonna ask Santa for one of those. I've been nice all year. :)

If you can get Frank's attention at the Spot Brand booth, maybe ask them if they're FINALLY going to have a bigger selection of Carbon Drive cogs and rings.

And Nathan, I missed your phone call. Give me a buzz again tomorrow!

If you get a chance check out a Surly Big Dummy and let me know what you think. I am thinking of getting one but no LBS has one built up because they take up too much floor space. :ylsmoke: Thanks in advance.

Interbike 2009 Update

Roger that on Rawland, Surly Big Dummy, Nite Rider Pro, and Carbon Drive train. Spot is not in attendence as far as I'v seen.

Just as a heads up a brief update on Interbike bikes and components has been posted on the ExPo homepage.

Well, I'v tried about 15 times to get picture on here to tantilize you guys with, but for some reason it ain't workin. Jeremy and I are blaming it on the sketchy buffet we sucombed too earlier tonight. Ain't nothin been workin right since.

day 1 update!

I apologize for the late update. After an exciting day at Interbike, Nathan & I barely survived a Vegas all-you-can-eat buffet experience, which was described as both "marginal" and "gnarly." Since then it has been technical difficulties & end-user discomfort in abundance.

Check here for the full story on Day 1 gear & accessories, and here for bikes & components!

I met Nathan today at Interbike. I saw tis guy"NAthan" walking down an aisle in the convention center with a Expo Hat and carrying the Overland Journal in his hand.

Hope to get together for lunch with the guys tomorrow.

Swobo

Take a look around and try to find Swobo bikes. Is it true that they make some nice city bikes and a sweet single speed crossbike? I may be getting myself a new bike for my birthday.

Excellent finds, guys. Those Pac Outdoor panniers are going to give Orlieb a run for their money, no doubt. They released those panniers at last year's interbike with not much press or hype. I think they were a bit intimidated by what the economy would do for '09 so they turned some of that bike attention to "Global Commuting" by offering a great line of metro-bags for commuting. The touring versions of those bags are absolutely beautiful, well featured, light and priced appropriately.

I think it's also worth mentioning that Pac Outdoor is employee owned and their collective pride can be seen in the quality and designs of their gear. Expect big things from Pac Outdoors.

If Surly doesn't have a Big Dummy with them check with Xtracycle, I think they have a big Airstream somewhere doing demos. Thanks guys. :victory:

I would like to attend this next year.
On the lights thing, I had looked at the Niterider 1200 Pro until I saw the price tag.

Lot of nice lights over at mtbr.com for less in the lighting section.
I picked up a 900 lumen claimed a few weeks back.
Actual output though is around 600 lumens, but very bright.
