LENZ was not on the list of exhibitors, but may have had reps in attendance out walking around. We were hoping to see Rohloff, but they did not have a booth set up. Rumor had it that a few fellows with the Rohloff logo embroidered in their shirts were at the show.

I see Ergon grips were covered in the link above.
I just put the Ergon GA1s on my Rockhopper yesterday.

Very good mountain bike grips.
The stock ones felt uncomfortable with plain gloves, but they were OK with fingerless gel gloves.

The new grips are a lot better.

Could you guys please find out about Rawland Cycles, and if the new 26 incher will fit an 700cX32 tire?

Hey! That's a lugged fork.

I had to google the Dirt Rag cover you mentioned. It was worth it.

Its funny how many things you mentioned that we already own. S&S connectors - Check, Arkel handlebar bag - check, Rohloff hub - check.

Bummer about the buffet. There is a reason my wife has a very strict "no buffet" rule.

Keep it coming.

Knowing what I've put my bike through while touring on singletrack, I cringe at the thought of doing that to a Moots YBB. Eeeks. Beautiful bikes that would be my first pick for daily rides, races, endurance events, etc. For touring, it would be like taking the prom queen to a tractor pull.

Roger that Flounder. I'm just saying it could work, not that it is necessarily ideal. Somebody may want to take the prom queen to the tractor pull. Regardless of its price or prestige, its still a super capable kick bum bike.

But, ultimately I trust your experience and expertise over my less comprehensive impressions.

I bet you could tour your heart out on a Moots and love it. I'd love to just pedal along and look at it! I just think they're so beautifully refined for performance, that I personally would hate seeing it lumber along under a load. Especially a load requiring racks, panniers, etc. If that touring were "ultra-light" touring with limited weight, no racks, no panniers, a frame bag, a seat bag and a pack, then HECK YES! Then you could rail along and tap into that refined performance. These are just my opinions which I encourage you to hold as suspect. As a daily rider and a platform for ultra-light touring, that Moots would be the bomb-digitty as those whacky kids say.

Regarding materials, I think any material will do fine for touring. The more I ride steel, the more like the feel of it. Ti appeals to me for ultra-light touring because it has a similar feel to steel, but the raw finish of Ti would be easy to maintain. The weight savings would be minimal. The one inherent challenge builders face with Ti is the same thing that draws builders to Ti - FLEX. I think getting a Ti bike to feel fun and lively under load for touring and then unloaded for daily riding would be tough. If you over build it to endure 50 pounds of gear, it won't have that silky feel when you're out on your local trail.

That said, material alone means nothing. It's how the material is used that counts. That even goes for bamboo!
