If anyone has some photos of my rig...anything at all...I would love to get copies...pretty please?

I have NO IDEA at all what that hill climb looked like...being inside the vehicle the whole time...with a nasty adrenaline rush coursing through my veins! :yikes:

Jeff, that Suzuki night photo w/stars is just incredible! :victory:

David, glad you made it down to Phx and home ok. Hope to see you two on a trail run again sometime. Thanks for the books...

Wow, what great event!

I just have too made a quick post,

Wow, What a great event! I wish I would have made the effort to get out there.

Thanks for making my things I have to do before… list longer!

I think you are all winners for getting out and enjoying the good times!

Best,

Matt W

What else can be added? This was a awesome trip. Thanks to everyone who attended. You all made this a success in my eyes, and I'm sure it everyone elses too. I didn't hear any moaning or complaining, even when a couple of us experienced some sort of equipment failure, or when we didn't quite make it to the next camp by lunch time, or camp locations changed at the last second.

IMO, all these things simply contributed to the overall adventure, and it appears that everyone else did too. It was a awesome group to travel with!

:"Everyone got an escape route planned, just in case?"

Maybe he was being funny, but it put the fear of God (and trailer) in me.

It only takes one endo'ing truck to make that fear real! :yikes:

I snapped this pic over my shoulder while scrambling for my life:eek:

It would've sucked to have an "incident" on the trail with Rob not there. Our live comentators would have had their day made though...

Mountainpete, one of our early forum member sent a care package from Canada for the trophy (prizes!). Unfortunately, it came on the day I left, BUT, I will be able to send off the goodies to several of the place winners.

Thank you so much Pete!

He also had some very cool things to say about the members of the forum, including:

"ExPo has become a global community where we all learn, share and grow"

Pete, you are a class act :friday:

Oh - is that like the time at 8:30pm on Saturday, after 8 hours on the trail and god knows how many "okay this is the last obstacle" when we hear this cryptic transmission on CB "Hey (static), did you catch that discussion on the 2M about the status of the campground?"

At which point all of us with healthy Conspiracy Theory tendancies ASSUMED that meant the aforementioned campground was Not Available as planned? but since we all only had wimpy CBs and not 2M, you thought we couldn't figure it out, huh? Well we're just a tad smarter than those there Red-Necks, even without the Bud. . . :sombrero: (well, usually - at least until Chris breaks out the tequila or the Sotol . . . )

Ok, folks...
I think I have a few photos in an album to share: ExPo Trophy 2006

Activate the slideshow function at upper left where it says, "Slideshow" (duh).

Yea, uh.......see, we planned that. It was part of the master plan of getting everyone to get off their butts and get their tech license and a 2 meter so we could avoid the static and poor performance of the 4 watt CB transmissions next year. We figured that if we threw out just enough info to make others want to know more, they would not want to miss out on the good stuff next time....You have the choice....4 watts with the CB, or 1500 watts on VHF. IMO, that is kind of like choosing between that 3 day old hot dog at the local circle K, or having Scott throw down on some rib-eyes in camp. . . it is simply a no-brainer (even after Chris breaks out the Sotol)

Sounds like a blast.

By the sounds of things everyone had a great time despite a few challenges but that's all part of the adventure. Some day I hope to make the Expedition Trophy as a spectator if nothing else, but being a participant would be amazing! Perhaps the first Canadian participant, unless someone already beat me to it!

Can't wait to see more pictures.

Cheers ,

Congrats to everyone!

Holy smokes! After spending the last 30 minutes reading EVERY post on the event in my office (instead of working) all I can say is 'Wow'!

Scott, looks like you put on one hell of an event! Congrats to you for what I'm hearing was an A+ job. Congrats to everyone who participated in the event, and congrats to everyone who was there to see it in person. How I wish I could have been a part of it. Just wait...2007 baby!

Can't wait to continue seeing more posts on the event. Scott, when things slow down, send over some media assets for me and we'll do a write-up in JPFreek issue #5. By the way, the photo of Justin's Rubi in the air was sweet! JPF definitely needs to get that sucker in the next issue.

Again, congrats to everyone. I can't wait for next year!! :D

I just wanted to drop a note and say thanks to everyone at the Trophy for making me feel a part of the gang. First class folks, across the board. I had a wonderful time and can't wait for next year. Who knows, maybe we'll get the 100 series in the air next time.

Cheers!
