1996 SR5 White 3.4, auto, 4wd, 4.30's.
2. Name of owner/screen name/truck name...
Mike/Weezykid and Krylon.. Truck doesnt have a name. Maybe Yota?
3. How long have you owned your 3rd Gen? How many have you owned?
About 8 years. Have a '91 Toyota pickup years ago I wish I kept.
4. What made you decide to buy a 3rd Gen over what other options you might have been considering...
Was looking for a double cab taco, but came across this 4runner that was a deal I couldn't pass up.
5. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage...
89k then, 159k now
6. Your favorite mods...
231mm 13wl Tundra front brakes/Brembo rotors so far, 17" 6 spoke 4runner wheels.
7. What do you love most about being a 3rd Gen owner...
Everything. Takes me where I want to go with enough room for others.
8. How your 3rd Gen is used: It is my DD, weekend adventure vehicle

First one, and bought it in July of 08.

4. What made you decide to buy a 3rd Gen over what other options you might have been considering...
I am a Toyota whore, and needed a truck/SUV to haul things. I wasn't actually into off roading of any sort, but still wanted the most capable vehicle possible.

5. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage...
Somewhere in the 110k range when I bought it, and just about to turn over to 280k now.

6. Your favorite mods...
none, the whole truck is supposed work as a package right?

7. What do you love most about being a 3rd Gen owner...
this is about as close as you can get to an adult security blanket. It's always there for me. lol

Yes, plus tow rig.

A few weeks. First 3rd gen, first Toyota.

4. What made you decide to buy a 3rd Gen over what other options you might have been considering...

Reputation for reliability mostly. I wanted an inexpensive secondary vehicle, didn't want to spend a lot of money. In the price range I wanted to pay, all vehicles had high miles, 3rd Gen 4runners had the best reputation for still being reliable at that point, and easier to repair and maintain as opposed to other vehicles. Lots of documented community support online, generally good availability of information. Plus I think it looks cool, and have always been fond of Toyota's which didn't hurt.

239,000 - Just purchased so not many more than that now.

The ones I'll do in the future....

New 4x4 to play with???

8. How your 3rd Gen is used; is it a DD, weekend Toy, family adventure, overland travel, etc...

Jack of all trades. Primarily a relief vehicle to my newer Xterra to share the ample miles I have to drive. Don't have any plans to exclude it or favor it over anything the Xterra does in general, except the Xterra is currently better prepared for extended travel, off road, and camping and thus will be favored until the 4runner is better equipped. Still may favor the Xterra for long distance driving as it's newer, larger, more comfortable.

3. this is my first Toyota, i bought it beginning of 2015
4. What made you decide to buy a 3rd Gen over what other options you might have been considering...from what i read, reliability and just to try something different from my Jeep.
5. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage...145k(2015); 167k (June, 2017)
6. Your favorite mods...i love the way my front bumper looks and the clearance it gives, and the winch is a must have for me.
8. How your 3rd Gen is used; is it a DD, weekend Toy, family adventure, overland travel, etc...it started off as a daily driver, then i bought a newer vehicle for that. now i use it on weekends and overland travel.

Finally after shoving camping and Flyfishing gear into my Honda Accord and travelling around the Western US for 280,000 miles....
I finally got a 4runner from a fishin' buddy for a great price.
Looking forward to learning a lot here and applying a bunch of it.

The reputation and the cost. Also, so many options and support.

Initially the room and the ability to go further in and further out.

Well it won't be the gas mileage.... Too soon to tell

Fishing truck. Long highway drives to back roads to good rivers. So there will be compromises. No crawling but I might need to get out of the deep mud.

I’m from Hawaii and grew up with Toyota’s. Originally I wanted a 01-04 double cab Taco, but residing in WA my wife said lets get a 4runner. Happy wife, happy life
