Thanks. Whoops, looks like I mixed up D45's comments with your reply. Sounds like your friend with the 7.3L was in the neighborhood of 14mpg on the road trip to pick up a canopy. That makes some sense. I imagine with a hard side camper on the back or towing it could drop much lower. I wonder what sort of load was being hauled by the guy who was getting 8 - 10.see post 229
I took another look at the original catalogue for my truck and was unable to determine what gearset it has. I know the Hvy Duty Payload Pkg came with 9.75".. My truck does not have that package. I do have the Max Towing Pkg but the details for that package does not reflect the gearset. What gears?

Just checked the VIN# and no "L" showing. Also no place where a single numeral follows an alpha character. There is an axle code on the vin. Probably L9 or L6.

The door jam sticker shows L9 for axle. The FX4 pkg and the Max Tow Pkg both specified the 3.55 electronic-locking rear axle.Sorry. That wasn't a clear explanation. There should be an axle code on the door jam.
Do you have an open diff? No locker or limited slip in the rear?

I found the reference on the B pillar post on my F150 showing Axle L9, which I guess confirms the 9.75”. Learn something every day.Max Tow will come with 9.75”.
In fact, I believe all 3.5 ecoboost comes with 9.75”.
