F350 Tremor/ Supertramp “TRAMPER’s” build thread.

Purchased a 2024 Ford F250SD, 7.3L gas engine with 3.73 rear axle ratio, Fx4 package. Headed to Golden, CO to STC HQ for install of my Flagship LT camper on 2/3. I decided to upgrade the “stock suspension” to a Carli Pintop 2.5” and the Dever XHD rear leaf pack. I upgraded the rear leaf spring shackles and the high and low mount steering stabilizers. After deliberation and recommendation from CJC off-road (Cody), I swapped out the front sway bar to the Carli torsion sway bar. This work is being completed as I type this post. Wanted to get some opinions regarding wheel/tire upgrades. Initially, I had ordered 37x12.5 Falken Wildpeak AT4’s on 17“ Method HD beadgrip wheels. However, I’m getting conflicting advice/information regarding the need to “re-gear” the axles to 4.3 or 4.88 with a move to the larger tires. @SimplyAnAdventure: what is the axle ratio on your Tremor/Tramper? I’m assuming it is a 4.3 ratio. Any issues? Advice for a ”newb” trying to do “mods” in a way that emphasizes safe travel without placing undue stress on factory components. I live in Idaho and my use cases are traveling into the backcountry to chase blue lines on a map in search of eager trout all across my “neighborhood”. Thanks!

I cannot comment on moving 37's with 3.73's, but can confirm they are great with the 7.3 and Tremor 4.30's. I have a 2024 F350, also with Carli Pintop as you are getting, and Falken Wildpeak R/T 37X13.5x17's on Method 703 beadgrips. I don't have a camper on the truck at this time, just a topper. If it were me, I'd regear given the weight of the camper and my past experience with benefits of regearing other trucks. Given a new F350 and Supertramp, regearing will cost like 1.5% of your build cost, and I think will be worth it.

I don’t have a Supertramp but I do have a ‘24 350 with the 7.3, 4.3s, and 37s carrying a large hardside camper. It drives fine in the mountain west. I would wait until your setup is built and see if you like it. Then you could consider going to the trouble of regearing.

Thanks very much for your feedback. If I go with the 37’s I also need to decide on how to carry my spare…I have the Carli trophy hitch if I want to go in that direction, but could offset the cost of the regearing by going to a 35” tire (factory spare location) and returning the Carli hitch. Cash flow considerations…

You are probably not as vain as I am, but 37s look better. They also have more sidewall and better roll-over off-road, both of which improve the ride. With 4.30s, I feel like it is close to stock; with 4.88s, it might be a little short for 75mph+ but would be better off-road.

I’d still leave gears for last pending your final setup; I agree with @Art Vandalay that you’d probably appreciate the regear. A small benefit of waiting is you can really feel the improvement of getting the right gearing after driving around with the wrong setup for a bit lol. It is an expensive upgrade you so should really “feel” it!

I'm considering the same. May I ask what you average, mpg wise, running around empty? (I'm in CO so also high altitude). Thanks!

This advice is perfect, wait until the truck is complete, and drive it, you'll know pretty quickly if you need a regear. I have a 2024 with the 6.8 and 3.73s (25 less hp and 40 fewer lb ft or so) and when I went to 35s (I live at 5,500 feet) I felt like I wouldn't want to go any bigger with 3.73s.

I’m running a 305/70-18 MT Baja Boss AT on my 22’ 250 Tremor. It’s roughly 1” larger than the stock 285 Duratracs and not quite 1” smaller than most 37s I’ve measured including a 37x12.50 Toyo RT I had leftover from my previous 350. It was my compromise as I aesthetically wanted 37s, but didn’t want to deal with spare tire and clearance issues. I’m pretty happy with them, and will be going back with the same size. Still on the fence if I’ll go back with the same tire.

Those tires in that size are on my short list for the next go around for those same reasons.

The tires have been fantastic performance wise for me. My only hold up on them is they’re wearing pretty quickly for me. I’m right at 22K miles on them so far, and I don’t expect to make it much past 30K. I do pull tires earlier than most though. Nothing worse than having a capable truck turned around or stuck due to near bald tires. If they’d hit 40K before needing to be replaced my by standards then I’d 100% order them again. I still may. Just not without looking at other options first.

Did you ended up staying with the stock suspension? I just purchased a F350 Tremor with 6.7D - this one says the GVWR is 12,000 I too want to run factory wells add 37's Toyo AT3's and run stock suspension - but some of my local offroad shops are telling me I need airbags and a 15-k Carli system. Curious how you like drive ability of the truck camper set up stock?
Yes still 100% stock suspension and 37’s still sits perfectly level with no rubbing…. Couldn’t be happier with the setup!

4.30 gears on my stock Tremor. No issues at all running 37’s, the 10 speed really does a nice job keeping the truck in the right RPM range.

My only advice would be to not over think it. My truck has a GVWR of 11,500 lbs. that gives me over 4200 lbs of payload. Even fully loaded I’m ~1500lbs under. That’s why we buy Superduty’s no reason to worry. You’re well within the safety factor.

I just ordered a Carli Trophy Hitch in order to be able to carry a 37" or 38" spare. I have been very happy with the 37/12.50/18 Toyo Rt Trails I've been running with a Carli level for the past 1.5 years but I will likely bump to a 38/13.50/18 Toyo M/T when it comes time to replace them.
